i shouldn't need 50 pieces of outside software to make a game enjoyable, its the mark of both failure and lack of interest in quality of development. So this is just a post about the possible addition of add-ons. I remember there use to be a option called widgets for possible add on. I think this was before the change in direction and developer. ^^ If this subject has been adressed already just point me into the direction of the link for info on. If not could we get a small idea of how yoshi feels about possible add-ons such as parcers dmg meters threat meters and such.

3rd party tools are inevitable in any MMO. SE has a choice of two evils: Embrace it, encourage people to develop on SE's add-on API, and listen to people bitch about "being unfair to PS3 players"; or, shun it and listen to people bitch about not being able to keep up with "cheaters".
They will ultimately have to deal with both since people are going to want apps that don't use the built-in API, but it becomes much easier to justify banning those people if an add-on API is in place. Can you imagine how badly FFXI's subscriber base would plummet if they started smoking everyone using 3rd party applications for simple things like spell recasts, party member TP, or equipment swaps? If FFXI had this add-on API in place for the usual windower plugins everyone uses, the only other 3rd party apps out there would be ones that are really asking for a ban, and people who were previously "cheaters" for not putting up with a horrible system are suddenly happy and abiding by the ToS.
