In terms of meaningful mages not yet added Time Mage and Geomancer are both up there for sure. And yeah, they aren't going to mess with the range really for Casters or Healers. The closest we are likely to get is something like Red Mage, and I kind of doubt we will see a Healer like that. It's theoretically possible, but it just seems unlikely.

As for ways to do a Whip as a weapon... maybe just make it really obviously big? They do manage to have daggers as a weapon so it can't be too impossible.

I would LOVE me some Rune/Mystic Knight or Spellblade; but I've always been pretty worried about the amount of sword-wielders in the job line-up. About the only thing we don't have is a dual swords job (NIN kinda counts for some of the weapons?). I like RDM alright, but it definitely has left me yearning for a more traditional take on the melee caster a la FFV or even FFXI. I'd love it if they just aped either the design of the Rune Blader from MS2 or the High Scepter from DDO.

I kinda want Salve Maker from BD to be our 'chemist' job. Lots of unique ways to heal the party. And of coarse; we always get teased something, so Necromancer would be a hilarious choice for either ranged magical DPS, or healer.

So any healer that needed to be melee to function Dps/Heal would die in the meta. Iono what time mage would really do as a support caster that feels more like what Geo would be XD
This. It very much reads like the “I want two handed hammer melee healer Geomancer!” When we have been shown them being anything but.

Both these options, Time Mage and Geo would be great as casters but be a tad redundant as a healer.

Well they can always go the Guild Wars 2 route and make a Hammer Long Range Attack Geomancer Healer (in GW2 case the Revenant Profession using Hammer as a Long range combat weapon through Magic) with the offensive attacks about smashing the ground to create shockwave attacks and slap on some lore because of "magic"

They could but there's no real point, if they did Geo its canonical use of hand bells is a better fit for a caster weapons and leaves hammer for a more appropriate class like the planned Beastmaster Limited job. When it comes to the FF14 team doesn't ever push the design envelope very far at all.

I don’t think they are going to change the in game resources we have depicting Ganen and other Geomancers with handbells to fit a GW2 class.

So I guess yeah, like Seikishi said, they could. But then it would be why?

Yeah, Geomancers could get hammers, but whatever they get it’s just going to be a magic implement. It isn’t going to be them leaping around whacking people.

With regards to hammers... If anything I could see the slight justification of having a Time Mage wielding a hammer, since Gaia is the most prominent hammer-wielder in the game and has Time and Space powers which she uses offensively. Time Mages don't really have an archetypal weapon, and at the same time the typical wielder of hammers in FF is an Engineer (where we already have Machinist). With the typical wielder off the table, I'd guess Gaia's the next best example for 14 to go off of.
This is all assuming the devs don't just turn around and start mixing hammers in with Warrior Arms forever, since they already have that Dwarven hammer.

But from the Geomancers we've already seen, bells are staying in -- and it would likely also be a way to use some of the old CNJ/WHM assets to boot, since Kyo wields his similarly to a wand.

With regards to those two though: I don't expect we'll get both in one expansion, much less the next one. Each would be better suited as a Caster DPS as not to overlap with AST and WHM as healers, respectively.

Kyo wields his bell similarly to a CNJ because they just copy/pasted the animations. It's no different than in HW when Alisae used GLD animations in Patch 3.4 even though she was a RDM. If GEO actually gets released then they'll go ahead and give it proper animations rather than reuse old stuff from a different Job.

A hammer would still work for a Time Mage, but chances are it'd be used more for smashing the ground that is is bludgeoning enemies directly
