no, theres 20 mil account but currently active user is probably only 1 mil or so, the ending of last patch it's down to 600k to 800k. and 20 mil probably counting free trial thats only logging in for few hour and give up the game. it's just a way of.pro…oting their game.

I don't think I'll ever understand why he's necroing old threads like this.
Are we really Necro'n threads now...run out of ideas did we.
Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!

At its high tide points, the game operates at around 1.5 million active subs, not 17 million.Seriously, I'm having to wait a literal hour before I can log into the game.
For a company with 17 million players at 12-14 dollars a month you would think your servers would be i don't know...
somewhere in the realm of good, this happens every single patch and every single launch your servers are always less then what you need...
You need 4 servers per EVERY single world in every single data center and 4 more servers running V-motion so that failing servers can be hot swapped without down time in addition to the 4 that run each world mirrored for a total of 4 mirrored servers and 4 fail over servers.
'Our servers are reaching capacity" is not an excuse for a company that grosses 200 million. If you cant run the traffic, buy more servers. Literally that simple.
The 17 Million number is the amount of accounts that exist. It's an inflated number for marketing purposes. And before the "Oh thats scummy of SE!" thought process, WoW does the exact same thing, along with other MMOs.
1.5 Million a month x 16 (which is IF people are actually getting the standard account) is roughly 24 Million a month....Before Taxes. People tend to forget that subs are income for a company and are subject to taxes within that companies country of origin. Then there's overhead costs of running a business in general (property costs, taxes, basic utilities like power and electricity, supplies, admin costs, etc). Then theres employee costs (Devs, admins, Testers, Janitorial and repair services, technicians for servers, localization teams, etc). Then theres equipment costs (desks, chairs, pencils, computers, servers, etc). Then there's marketing costs such as ads and promotions. Then you got the actual cost of operating a game (development, bug fixing, content etc). Then there's the obvious legal costs (having on hand lawyers and retainers).
Yeah, 24 million a month isnt actually a whole lot when you start factoring all of that in. And not all the money generated from subs goes back into the game cause that would actually be foolish. You want to diversify so you have multiple revenue streams incase one dries of or hits a speed bump. So you have some of the sub money going to other projects to make sure other games are developed.
So its not a cut and dry issue.

oh shut it with your BS, the servers are just fine, it's too be expected they'll be heavy load when a major update launches but the vast majority of the time I have absoltely no problem getting in, what the OP is asking for is just ridiculous and unncessary.

Yet we had half this quantity in Heavensward and the devs could still come up with nice, good and original content.
I cannot be the only one who's tired of this game's absurd recycled stuff.
Look at Eden : this tier only one fight is not a recycled idea.
Unreal trials? They brought shiva, the one we just have defeated in E8S.
Job desing/balance/uniquiness? Almost reduced to zero when we're talking about healers and tanks.
Where is the uniqueness this game had some years ago? Ravana? Thordan? The raids with nice, creative and ORIGINAL concepts?
At WoW's height, they were making billions a month, and still their servers were crap. Throwing money at a problem doesn't automatically fix it. Server farms are not easy to maintain.
