Just let FF14 fans voice act for free? Not everything has to be high quality. There are 10 million players in this game there are definitely people who would do this for free so they can brag about it to their friends.
You can get voice acting for free by asking FF14 fans. They already do it for glamour with glamour competition so why not make a voice acting competition.Log on and do /playtime. I know my own is around 360+ days. That is nearly a year spent inside this virtual world. The grand total amount of actual USD I have put into the game is easily less than $500 USD. Name anything on this planet other than another mmo than can provide 8640 hours of entertainment for 500 bucks. What you potentially receive in entertainment value in comparison to what you pay monthly is in your favor in a big way. I suggest shifting your perspective.
Voice actors also have bills to pay, and they require the same for their services. And in cases such as Midgarsormr 2.x, and then afterwards; these actors are not always available. It also weighs heavy on time constraints, especially if said voice actor has a schedule to follow, so things have to line up. There is just a ton going on that you don't see.
Okay this is some top-tier shitposting, I'm not gonna lie.

When you don't look at it like a business trying to make money, yes, it doesn't make sense that the game doesn't have more than a third of things voice acted.
Logically though, it's unrealistic and not cost efficient to do so. If there's any developer that I can say without a doubt that would do it if they could, it's the current FFXIV team and the ESO team. No one else would if they could.
Your friendly neighborhood gamer.

FFXIV only supports 4 languages, though?SWTOR had all voice acting and the content took FOREVERR. You do understand they need to translate everything for dozens of languages right? Also since you put up some numbers the amount of cut scenes in FF14 with voice acting add up to multiple movies worth of content that easily exceeds the cost you just listed.

I don't see the big deal. I've been reading text in video games since the early 90s. Not everything in this game needs voice acting. They do, however, include it where it truly matters in my opinion. I wouldn't expect them to provide voice acting for the million and one side quests and dungeons. Even WoW (another AAA title, among other things) does this. They don't have voice acting in every single part of the game, but I do think it is slightly more prevalent, mainly because the creatures in the open world have been given more a voice over the last couple expansions.

It's not AAA game. At least no longer, we get less and less content with time. But lets get to the point - if they would add voice acting to every dialogue this game would take 200 GB of space.
