Buy it again is absolutely not a valid reason, especially with some of the costs of said items.
Oh I disagree with this completely. People with just one toon can earn a mount and proudly display it. I on the other hand play 7 alts why can I not display my mount that I earned just as much as you did on my alt? I'm not asking for anything that I did not earn. There are titles I will never get because I play 7 alts. For example I have enough comm between all my alts to get titles but I'll never get them because they are spread out between 7 alts. Why I do not have access to these titles is unfair. I earned them just as much as anyone else.I understand the desire to have account-wide "stuff," but I think that should mainly only apply to Online Store/merchandise code purchases or Veteran Rewards or things like that.
The only in-game stuff that I would want to be account wide is character status (new/returning//mentor player) and any gear glamour/mount/minion/barding/orchestrion roll/fashion accessory/(triple triad card?) that can be purchased via the market board or via player trading.
I think most achievements, including quest progression/content unlock, titles, and non-purchasable/tradable gears/glamours, mounts, minions, bardings, orchestrion rolls, fashion accessories, and triple triad cards should remain character-bound.
There are several reason's I play alts one is because I like to experience the game in so many way's RP, and I want to lock away my names as well. If I use a name change token I could lose my name that I have played with going all the way back to the UO days. I would HATE to lose my name, and EricGorn would NEVER hold a bow. EVER.
I just want things to be more balance. I think GW2 is killing it in that aspect.
I hear ya, knowing the limits of the game does not stop me from making 7 alts and pausing them though to the end. But it would be nice to have the mounts that I have already earned just like everyone else on all my alts. So every time I see a thread I'm going to add my two cents to push this agenda.
I'm not playing multi characters at a time, I'm playing one toon and you are playing one toon. Shouldn't the work we both put in be displayed equally?
I play the game despite these deficiencies, but because of them.
Like I said, I understand the desire, but I also like the fact that every time I create a new character, it really is (mostly) a fresh start.I hear ya, knowing the limits of the game does not stop me from making 7 alts and pausing them though to the end. That's why I'm ok with making things that you can just buy from market board or purchase at the store or have someone give it to you be account-wide, but I still want things that must be earned by your character to be character-bound.
Or have an option to carry on the achievements etc. of your main character to your alts or not. It's fine if you want things how they are but there are also people who prefer the convenience.
I'm ok with having that option, as long as they can ensure data integrity. Otherwise, it'd just be another source of potential failure/loss. It's probably better if something is truly account-wide or truly character-bound and not mess with "carry option."
In the meantime, if you really care about convenience, then stick to one character.
Literally nobody is choosing between cosmetics in a video game and starvation- and if you are so sheltered that you honestly believe that's a legitimate first world problem... maybe it's time to check your privilege?
I disagree with you completely as I am unable to see why a sane individual would need 7 alts at all.Oh I disagree with this completely. I mean one or two is either situational or reasonable, but 7?
lol well I'm not sure how many other mmo's you have played but this is the first one that I've played where you can max everything on one chr. I have played UO, Lotro, Swtor, GW2, and now FFXIV. And every one of them besides FFXIV you could ONLY create one type per chr. In UO you had 700 pts that you could max out a single toon with, if I wanted a crafter, noxis fencer, caster.. etc I could not max it out on one chr. On Lotro, Swtro, Gw2 I had to create multiple characters to max out all the different classes that were available.
So a lifetime of creating different looks, characters names you tend to say "This is what my healer looks like and this is her name." "This is what my tank looks like and this is his name" and you get attached to these characters. So when I started playing FFXIV, there was no way my Tank would EVER be a girl or hold a bow or craft that is not who he is. Period. Every Tank I had is a male melee only. If I need a ranged hero I have a name and look that I use, same with healer and crafter and caster.
So a lifetime of creating toons that look and feel a cretin way. FFXIV gave me that same option as every other MMO I have ever played, so I used it. Period.
I mean there are perks, I get a ton of retainers that I can store stuff with and put up on the AH. I can own 7 FC rooms to store all of my excess housing items. But that's not the reason I created toon.
I'm not even complaining about not having access, I just want it, and when I see a chance I'm going to let them know that this is something people want. That's all.
