New Races Unable to Wear Puppet Bunker Raid Headgear

I do sincerely hope the devs try to make as many pieces of newly introduced headgear available for all races. If they can’t add the whole headgear than they could at least add any mask/visor portion of that headgear.

I’m gutted I can’t wear the new Shadowless Caster/Healer headpieces from The Heroes Gauntlet, but if they at least let us wear the Amaurotine mask portion of it (like the Aiming piece is) that would be a good enough consolation I feel.

As for Hrothgar, just make the headgear shaped to their ears like the Miqo'te.

I mean, you say that like 95% of headgear these days don't just outright delete our ears, even in cases when it would be completely fine to just let them clip through (I always hated the ear-sock look a lot of old hats have anyway). If they were still in the business of letting us have ears, I imagine it wouldn't be hard at all to adapt the headgear for Hrothgar and Viera by just moving where the holes show up on the model/texture (or, again, just letting them clip through. things clip in games, we're used to it). But no, we're not allowed to have ears anymore, and you're not allowed to have hats, so eff us all I guess.

It is odd that apparently one of the dungeon helmets let's ears clip through, but I bet that is a bug. Either way, it's possible they could just have ears clip through (or hidden), but they are consciously choosing to hide headgear instead. It must just really look too bad to them.

Their stated reason for the lack of headgear was that due to their unique designs, the new races would not be able to wear hats. As they put it, the choice was to either compromise on the character designs OR make them as envisaged but unable to equip hats.

It's not simply a matter of backlog. It's a design decision - whether sensible or not - that will continue to carry forward. They will be able to equip masks and circlets but there are not and never have been any promises on actual hats.

Refer to the last section of this Letter from the Producer. "Due to the special design of the Hrothgar and Viera heads, equipped headgear would not display".

Ah, yes. As you may remember from the Tokyo Fan Festival keynote, I mentioned that due to the special design of the Hrothgar and Viera heads, equipped headgear would not display.

Glasses and so forth would not display either at first, but after seeing how many people called for us to do something, anything, to address this after the announcement, the character team took it upon themselves to use their spare moments to make it possible—without telling me. More than five hundred and forty such items were carefully modified by our designers so that all would display correctly with our new face models. /salute

They're not going to update viera or hrothgar to have hats bc 2b butts. Players got a small taste of what SE *could do*- it was a small light of potential of "Oh, so you're telling me I don't have to have the butt of an adolescent boy, but I can have an actual thicc butt?" If there was the same outcry for getting better hairstyles, updating the character creator to add better facial texture/ options for makeup/ a buldge slider, beards or body hair- you'd see it added ingame but instead, There was a larger outcry for butt sliders than there were anything worth noting, even more than people wanting male Viera & Female Hrothgar- SE *could* find a workaround to give Viera & hrothgar hats but they're not, they *could* add chest hair & beards & buldge sliders to male characters, but they're not, they *could* give players access to NPC hairstyles, but they're not but butt sliders or glams that have bigger butts? the mob outcries for that. right.-- but that's just imo.

I will admit, it is a small comfort that DNC and GNB aren't the only ones being crapped on this expansion as far as glamours go, but neither the new jobs or the new races should be getting crapped on at all.

That IS real glamour, just as much as outfits are.
