Some people just like to make alts for RP purposes. It would be great if the game was set up in a such a way where things like glamour, inventory, the Armoury bonus, etc. were shared. across account.
It's a hypothetical question. However, account sharing won't happen because of that very reason you stated yourself. "You can do everything on a single character". There is no need for alts. The only "Need" for an alt is how you described, for personal reasons. SE stated they wouldn't add it from previous live letters. That could change however in the next few years.

You're not being punished for having an alt. It's because you don't need one in the first place. It's why they don't have account sharing in place. As for playing through various parts of the game again, it's why they implemented New Game+. No alt needed. The RP aspect is understandable. However i don't see it as a valid reason for implementing a whole account-wide sharing system. This was debated in many threads before.

I get what you're saying, but players will always take the path of least resistance for the grind. The Arboretum is a great example because mobs can't follow you to the boss. Tank pulls all the Hawk Hornets, DPS destroy the barrier, everyone swooces to the boss.

    - shared mogstation glams / mounts especially it's really hard to level alts in this game
    - a content where it doesn't end or get old after a few weeks/months of being released
    or getting your mount drop
    - a content where your can use you hard earned end game gear ( i mean a place where this end game gear is useful)
    - solo floors/dungeons or more solo content would be nice
    - a system where minions can be useful (something like a friendship system ) similar to the one in aura kingdom but not exactly the same - they don't have to fight with us or anything but naming them and feeding them / having a friendship bar that fills if u feed them would be something nice
    - upgraded cc / no limited races
-more beast like races that look nothing like humans (please)/ in my opinion all the races we have in ffxiv are basically humans with animal ears except for hrothgars .

What are some things from other MMOs or games in general that you wish were in FFXIV?

-More focus on open world. Rather than creating six hundred fetch quest that are becoming dated, create a new system where players build up the zone. Repair and create townships, bridges, roads, and so on. Use FATEs, Guildleve and repeatable quest as the method of points and every two weeks do a small update that tally the score and adds the assets unlocked.

-People do want some kind of faction based PvP. Maybe in the new xpac let players join one of two faction and create a zone or two that have open world pvp. Isn't important to the overall story but acts as a side gig for people who want it.

-Ability for crafters to design and create custom gear for players.

-Improvement on Apartments so help those asking for Instance Housing. One big large cube with access to an outdoor style patio area. The cube design lets players decide on how they want to build their space including rooms and floors.

    -Chocobo Hot / Cold game

And then everyone joins the Maelstromsame faction, which always wins, and the game stagnates. Which is what happened when PVP revolved around factions in this game. Which is why it doesn't anymore.

I mean it could work with non (or limited) objective based pvp in the open world.

Say, have a persistent map with a keep in the center and maybe two or three outposts. You get to pick a faction with a rep system attached to it. You can pledge yourself to one faction and start as neutral with both. Speaking to an npc you can toggle on a pvp flag which will glamour your character to the faction's uniform for your role. While flagged you gain a small amount of rep with your faction when killing mobs in the area (very small, probably capped daily/weekly), and a fair amount of rep with your faction and some new faction specific currency when killing players, and maybe a boost when killing them in a fortified area to encourage sieging. Likewise, you lose rep with the opposing faction when you perform the same actions under the banner of your faction. Positive rep advancement could only be completed by killing x players once capped (or maybe x+y opposing faction guards which would be considerably dangerous). Negative rep advancement happens automatically. You can swap factions at any time, but you don't start at neutral, and instead start at where they new faction thinks about you and have to earn their trust, and you lose rep way faster when in the positive with your old faction.

Players siege the outposts and keeps and claim them for their team which opens up reputation vendors that give the basic rep vendor stuff like minions, music, a mount, decor, glamour, and some materia. (probably want a bit more to keep that grind going).

Sure, players can cheese kills, and maybe you want to put a buff on players when they die too many times so that they reward less to no faction currency to discourage it, but I feel if you want open world pvp, then a system like that, where that's all there is to it, you've got an incentive to keep things pretty even. Hell if there is a bias then do what wow does and give a buff to currency gains to the underdogs.

I'd be down for that being the eureka of next expansion.

    I am currently dying on the inside 'cause I want one of each race, so I have to do events 8 times because the completionist gremlin in my brain won't shut up. D;

Better and more in depth character customization. We don't even have simple things like beard options.

Rift, ESO, Aion (i believe), PSO2, I believe LotRO to an extent, but they've got a hybrid system that's like XIV's with a certain number of varying quality plots in a neighborhood, but when the neighborhoods are filled a new one opens, which causes a limit to the amount of GOOD good plots, but still it generates more room for an expanding active playerbase. And I'm gonna count wildstar on here 'cause the housing is not the reason it went under (and in fact was probably the reason why it lasted as long as it did. damn that game's housing community was nuts)

I play GW2 a fair bit during FFXIV’s content droughts. A few things I’d love to see brought over:

    1. WoW copied GW2’s Trading Post and Fractals of the Mist systems. Maybe FFXIV should too.
    2. Retaining your all abilities when level synced. Preserving GCD speeds, crit rates ect when ilevel synced would be nice too.
    3. A wide variety of open world content. Use those beautiful expansion zones for something.
    4. Bosses and enemies that react to having abilities used on them.
    5. Material storage you can craft directly out of.
    6. One single, continuous, zoomable overworld map that includes all the zones in the game.
    7. Unlock armor/weapons skins without needing to save the item. A glamor menu that lets you preview skins you don’t have unlocked yet. Swap appearances anywhere, not just in cities.

Yea... when I said faction I didn't mean the current three. Clearly we don't know where the new xpac is going to be but assuming it's a new continent or world, the factions would just two.
