But I'm stating my personal opinion. Now I'm not familiar with the ERP scene at all, not really my kind of thing and I'm not a part of Aether but I know people's penchant for overreacting about things. Sometimes it is best to ignore these things and go about your business or if you do have a concern then report it to a GM.

It's publicly advertising it that is the issue. That's got little to do with "puritanism".
When the game's story becomes self-aware:

As far as i remember there was a player that asked a GM about advertising erp and the GM said it's alright and ERP isn't against the rules if you wan't to believe the screenshot of the conversation between player and gm.
And what Yoshi P said is that we shouldn't use mods, especially nude mods, cause it can get yourself and XIV in trouble cuz of certain rules in certain countries where the game is available. Which has nothing to do with ERP tbh.
But i also think, even tho i tolerate almost every playstyle, ERP advertising in party finder is a really really strange thing, same goes for searching a waifu over the pf. xD There are so many roleplay discords, forums etc. in which you can advertise your stuff, even nsfw things. I also think it has nothing to do with puritanism, people just don't want to come into contact with that kind of stuff and i think it's a good compromise that the stuff isn't against the rules and people stay out of the open spaces with that stuff.

Have the screenshot with the conversation between that player and Gm Dorxenore before me. If it isn't a really good fake the Gm actually said "Just to inform you again, ERP and Party Finder ERP's are not a violation." Selling houses is btw.
And when we go after what the Gm said, even selling ERP for Gil is allowed.

[This was a contentious question, and one that Yoshida seemed blindsided by. -Ed]
Yoshida: First of all, there is a user agreement that all players have to agree to before they can even start playing Final Fantasy XIV. Within that user agreement is a clause that prohibits any unacceptable conduct to this end, including behavior that infringes upon laws. Any players who violate those rules will be punished by banning or other penalties. This applies no matter which end of the exchange a player is on. Everyone who plays Final Fantasy XIV is subject to investigation for violating the terms of service, period. Because Final Fantasy XIV is a worldwide game, there is the potential for players from many different regions to interact with one another, and we have legal support available to assist us in investigations to this end in many countries. If you see someone engaging in this type of behavior, we ask you to report it.
There have been a few faked GM conversations floating around on this topic, some more blatant than others.
But...but....PF is my source for feet pics.....
(I am joking btw...)
They travel to other servers and shout their crap about "sensual events"
