If this game truly listens to it's comunity PLEASE make Viera able to wear head gear!

They could at least make it so that Viera can wear some of the larger hats and their ears would just become invisible, as if they were hidden underneath the hat. Their ears look soft enough for it to be possible. There are a lot of hats that completely hide Miqo'te ears as well already.

Yeah there are several hats that totally ignore Miqo'te ears, and some are big enough that they could reasonably contain Viera ears, assuming they are as flexible as rabbit ears. It kind of raises the question of how either for them would hear very well. The Lvl 70 Bard hat comes to mind.

I seem to recall they said headwear that completely covers/replaces the head would work. However the Thug's Mug was no made to work for Viera while it was for Hrothgar.

1) Miquote and Viera have ears in different spots, so it does require reformatting all the hats to place ear holes in the correct spots.

2) Viera have different head shapes which means also resizing all the hats to fit

3) Most important of all, the game is still developing with lower resources and behind schedule due to Tom Clancey's The Division. There are FAR more important issues for them to tackle, such as playable content and finishing the next expansion, than adding more hats for fewer than 1% of the player base.

I don't even really see what the problem is.
For most helmets they could just have the ears stick out, it'd probably look fine even if they were just clipping through like there were holes in the helmets for the ears.
A bit silly yes, but cmon this game doesn't have '' realistic '' armor or gear that '' makes sense '' to begin with.

As soon as they find one piece of gear that clips the ears, they'll have to redesign it, and cross check it again. You might be willing to accept this now, but I assure you when most people catch the clip, they'll ditch the helm. You also can't just slap some holes in every piece of headgear, as some head pieces would have to be redesigned entirely to accommodate for their ears, which would basically render that piece unrecognizable. IOW, an entirely different head piece that carries the same name.

The other problem is that the ears of the Viera are very distinctive. Without them, you're basically left with another Hyur. I don't think that headgears just making the ears magically disappear is a viable option. It would also be really lazy, and the devs would just catch heat for that down the road.

Cause when the game was a lil baby game they designed it to continue with this version of the "cat girl race". So from the beginning they had a system in place to account for this. Years later, after expansions and expansions and YEARS of adding in more head gear with the current system, they add in ... VIERA. A race with GIANT ears that are on the TOP of their head (a completely different location). If they had the ears smaller and in the same place as the cats ... they could make the cat head system work. They didn't do that cause that's not how Fran looks and people asked for Viera, and they gave Viera ear customization so that their ear's arent just a part of their hair like with cats. So they would have to go back and redesign or alter how many years worth of hats to make a system that works for them and that's a bit much to ask at this point.


Hope for a FF14 New Genesis so that they can update this old AF graphics system/ engine.

It's really nasty to change the race and not be able to wear all the head glamours you bought or farmed really hard for.

If you're ok with Viera just turning into humans when wearing hats then just play humans and wear the GS Bunny ears.
It's the thing that defines them as a race ... there's no way they would disregard that feature and turn it off just so you can play dress up as freely as you want. It would be as lazy and baaaad as "just let em clip"

That's partially true about cross checking every headgear piece but they fail to mention how a lot of hats/helmets use the same mesh; I went through all headpieces from level 1 to 80 and a lot of them are repeats; a good sizable chunk are repeats, even newer stuff.

I was aware of the of the fact that it was a limited raced, it took me 2 weeks to actually decide to change to a Viera knowing most of my paid stuff wont work on it, but I gave it up cause I thought it's still the most race that pleases to me.

And Viera =/ humans even if their bunny years were covered, their face differs, they hairstyles are unique, their poses are also specific and the height it also something that defines a Viera, hiding their ears won't make a Viera a less Viera or unrecognisable, and let's say they will redesign some helmets/hats w.e so their ears won't be seen anymore, for me that's not a problem, and I am SURE it's not for any Viera user, and if it is they can simply hide the headgear and everyone is happy.

And most of the hats are the same model, like someone else already said here, most are just repeats even the newer ones. Cool, you didn't go in blind. But this limit is something that you have to accept if you decide to play Viera. If you wanna ask WHY they can't be treated like kitty girls then I spelled it out for you.

These are not things that define Viera, they are traits they have. I've said it in another thread but I can easily mistake a Viera for an Elezen at a glance if they wear the mascot head cause it takes away the ears and heads. The EARS define them, much like the tails make it clear as day that a fully armored kitty running around isn't a middie or draggo.

And just like the TAILS they're not gonna take them off just cause. The only time they cover up tails is when there's a legit reason to think the tail wouldn't be visible with the glam.

Nice of you to speak for like 60k people that you're SURE wouldn't mind. Shows how shallow the desire for this race is if people are legit willing to "turn off/ hide" the defining feature of the race just to wear a pretty hat.

I get it, it suuuucks to have human faces and 8 hair styles. Makes everything clone land unless you go try-hard-unique. But taking away the ears just for head gear is just such a bad take that they would never do, just play a middie and save yourself the suffering if that's what you want.

I never said it was fair or "right", I simply pointed out the WHY.

They can not be treated like cat girls for the reasons I pointed out.

Is this fair? No, what's happening with Hrothgar is down right criminal imo. But knowing it's a limited race before going in puts things in perspective to me. Even with all the limits I'd play Viera if they actually had expressive emotes. Even with all the Hrothgar limits I'd dive right in and throw away all the effort I put into getting the hairs and hat I LOVE if I could play what I imagine a female Hrothgar to be. But when you have a level of understanding about what goes into making a game you realize that it's a stupid amount of work.

That's why I said "hope for a FF14: New Genesis" cause the way things are made in this game won't allow for that much effort being put into making a system in this current pipeline for it.
