More options are usually a very good idea...

Full stop. This can't happen. Sadly because Garleans CAN NOT manipulate Aether, they can not be any Player class besides maybe Machinist. Also, all caster classes convert aether into spells. So Garleans are right out.

Duskwight, all Ishgardians are descended from Duskwights, and all Ishgardian features use Duskwight player settings. This is purely a case of RPing as Ishgardian, which is easy enough in-game, I would, however, love to see Elezen from other regions expressed.

I hesitate to use "clans" for this, as Xaela have a bunch of clans and settlements, while Rean are left with one town hidden away, and are all of the same clan. I would love for more Rean representation though, and when they finally open Hingashi I hope there are more Rean villages.

Hate to be this person... but idk where you got that Thancred was part Garlean. He can't use magic because of the result of Y'shtola's flow at the end of ARR. He used magic beforehand.

Ishgardians are descendants of the Wildwood who have become their own "clan" due to years in the snow, except for House Dzemael which is seemingly descendant of the Duskwights.

I stand corrected on Thancred. As to Ishgardians, blame SE, they used only Duskwrite models and options on all the Elezen, than they made House Dzemael actually Duskwrights, which means at least 12% of the upper class of Ishgard is pure Duskwright. It basically makes it clear that yah, Ishgard was founded by Elezen, at a time when both groups were still fresh from the fall of Gelmorra, after all, all player Elezen clans were from Gelmorra when the Hyur and Elezen that founded Gridania left. Causing the civilization to collapse. Ishgard was founded around this time. Calling Ishgardians Wildwood Elezen is false, they are not from Gridania, their civilization is just as old.

Think of it like this. Timeline of Elezen in Eorzea.

    Long ago:

    One Elezen population in Eorzea

Elementals force them underground create civilization called Gelmorra with Hyur.

Elementals allow Elezen and Hyur back into the land, half the Elezen and all the Hyur found Gridania.

Gelmorra collapses as a civilization, the remaining Elezen become Duskwrights, the ones who founded Gridania become Wildwood.

At the same time, a group of Elezen found Ishgard. Build a civilization similar to Gelmorra. Look like Duskwrights, and 12% of them claim to be Duskwrights.

Sorry Ishgarians are not Wildwoods, never have been, unless you count Gelmorra as a Wildwood civilization.

Machinists still use aether. Quoting from Encyclopedia Eorzea:

    Aetherotransformer
This device converts the wearer's aether into lighting-aspected energy, which is in turn stored within the transformer's crystal cores. The machinist then draws upon this accumulated energy to both power and enhance her unique repertoire of weapons, requiring her to master skills far beyond those trained by any mundane musketeer.
(Incidentally, the "lighting" thing is in the the book. I assume it's a typo and intended to be "lightning".)

Even Thancred who has some Garlean ancestry
    Wait, what?

The lunch box is so we who use aether can use Magitech, Garleans use a different method of collecting, but both Grunbreaker and Machists use Magitech. The only reason why I doubt the Gunbreaker class as we know it can be used by Garleans is the high amount of Aether used in the shells. While for Machinists, Garleans just need to stuff a lala in the lunchbox to do the same thing.
