Different folks want the game to be different things. A pretty normal human situation involving personal preferences. Apparently, some players want the game to be a challenge for the cut-throat, elitist, 8-hour-a-day crowd.

Others want the game to be an entertaining, diversion and pleasant escape from reality for a while more than a dedicated job requiring blood, sweat and tears to compete in. I think the majority probably falls into the latter category. It's just that the former group tends to be a lot louder about whining to get their own way.

    May the majority rule!

Might be the majority yes, but have you thought who the people are that create databases and other useful websites, that organize large discord groups to make teams for less-played content or raiding, have you thought about content creators that make funny videos or guides. About people who make art about ff14 or those who become ambassadors at fanfests or other press events. Thought about when a new ultimate hits and a few dozens thousands people actually enjoy watching a group do world progression?

All those things that actually draws people to the game is made mostly by the people that play much more than the casual majority, who like this game much more than the casual and who invest much more of their free time into the game to make it more accessible and welcoming. You are basically saying they don't deserve to have a voice because they are not the majority :/

    They do?

The greater bulk of content in this game is nice, relaxed theme park mode, relaxed gathering/crafts, story and quests and other entertainments. Which is great. But I don't see what's wrong with the few who enjoy challenge having maybe 5% of the content aimed towards them. It's a little selfish that the other 95% isn't enough for the rest.

I guess I fall in the camp that "I'm just not interested in it at this point". I've been on and off for almost since it came out on PS4. I do all the normal tier raids and hard mode stuff. I LOVE the content and I'm good at the jobs I love to play. I'm absolutely sure if I went into the EX or SV stuff I'd be absolutely fine after a few tries. Mechanics don't bother me, being in PUGs doesn't bother me, trying new content doesn't bother me simply because I've been playing so long. It just doesn't hold any interest for me. I may try it one day, I may not. Am I mad or upset that its difficult and or more intense than normal/hard content? Nope! Couldn't care less.

I'd never begrudge anyone that uses it as a trophy (like people doing it for leaderboards and what not) "do yo thang"! That being said though I think anyone that uses it as a "slap" should be dealt with. Like someone in a DF I was in was doing. Running ahead pulling whole rooms and overwhelming the tank. One of the guys told them to chill and their response was "It's obvious you don't savage raid!" "To bad you don't know what a good healer looks like". To me that kind of smarmy attitude should be dealt with. (and it was, quickly LOL!) If there's one thing I can't stand is someone with an "I'm better than you because..." type of attitude.

But for someone to say it needs to be made easier just for them is either foolish or just not confident in their skill set. Even though I don't have any interest in it, I don't want anyone that finds the challenge amazing to get screwed out of stuff they enjoy!

Like I said. I may try it one day, I may not. I might just up one day and say "screw it! I'm in!" I'm having a giant ball playing it as I am now. Leveling characters I want to learn how to play, crafting and selling, helping out the sprouts. There's no end to the stuff I have to do and I honest;y log in EVERY DAY! Several hours a day. (it helps being a single guy with a monday thru friday job!)

well that's a pretty ridiculous argument if you ask me. Nobody is saying the game should be anything, what we are saying is that there's no need to take content that was meant to be hard and change it so it's easy. In fact, I would argue it's the other side arguing we should change the game to accommodate them because they can't fathom the concept of there being content they don't wanna do.

To me, Fun can come from different sources, mainly relaxation / entertainement (I call it "the vibe"), and focus / accomplishment (I call it "the flow"). These are two very, very different streams.

High End Raiding isn't supposed to be fun from the "vibe". It's for the "flow" crowd, who are seeking accomplishment, and get off from overcoming limits. Some are seeking the gear, yes, but I can tell you all are mainly seeking the challenge, cause let's face it BiS gear is useless if you don't parse (or go Ultimate, and even there it's later dungeon gear that is BiS, not savage). That's a small flaw of this game but eh.

There is a way to upgrade ilevel with more time, which is the hunting and the 24 raid both coming 5 months later. But indeed it's only for tome gear so not complete BiS. Maybe the system could be improved so that you can buy Savage gear with 2x2 raid 24 pieces for instance, after the limitations are lifted. For people who are really reward oriented.

I wouldn't be opposed to it and even as a raider wouldn't feel my own accomplishments tarnished because people get the same gear 5 months later : it WILL rot anyway in a few months given the vertical game progression design.

I would much rather have that, than difficulty lowered which would ruin the fun of the game for the "flow" people.

So OP, maybe that content isn't for you, OR maybe you just need a bit of patience and improve little by little and you'll get there. Back in the days I started the game my FC brought me in T5. I thought Gemellia was the hardest content I'd ever face (and fail at it). Now I regularly kill Savage 4th floor and parse okayish with my reroll's roster (granted, Savage level has dropped a bit with each extension. Except E8S, shit was as hard as Alexander in min ilvl). And there are even better player who clear ultimates. I progress in it but don't have the level / dedication.

My point is : you can come from "meeeeh, extreme is hard" to 1st, then 2nd then 3rd, then 4th floor level. Just takes time and patience. And practice. A lot of practice.
