Oh I wasn't trying to suggest I think these races are unnatractive, not at all, I just thought it was a bit reductive to suggest that at a base level all the female races in this game can only neatly fit into the cute or sexy box when that's obviously not true. Female characters don't need to be muscular or beastly to be badass, neither do male characters.

If this method of implementation was SE's loophole of adding the missing genders at some point in the future then good on them, I'd like to see it, but I think it's naive to suggest that even if they added 10 more 'strong woman'-type races they'd make the slightest dent in the most popularly played races. Hell, for how often Viera are trotted out as the skimpy lingerie bunny that killed the dream of male Viera and female Hrothgar there's not all that many of us. Now the hair/headgear issue is a part of it, but I vividly remember the threads upon threads asking to make the Veena shorter. I guess people just really like to be short?

Anyway, I guess my point is I'm a bit bored with the dragging down of certain races to prop others up. I'd love to see female Hrothgar (and male Viera) at some point in the future even if I have 0 interest in playing them, I'd even like to see Bangaa, Burmecians or Ivalician Moogles. But not because they need to fill some imaginary quota but rather for the variety and diversity, even if they'd be a rare sight.

I almost wish they'd made Hrothgar female exclusive and Vierra male exclusive.

There are already so many fearsome looking character options for males and so few for females (they only have femroes if they even count)

Likewise, there are already so many delicate and feminine looking options for females and so few for males (we really only have male miqote's)

I dunno, I honestly think that the male characters in FFXIV stand out a lot in comparison with most games.
They do kinda have the '' FF syndrome '' in that they look more feminine or hot in that boyband kinda way.

Even the Hrothgar have this imo, compare them to the Charr in GW2 for example. Or heck even the Worgen in WoW.
They're very '' smooth '' and look a bit like furries moreso than beasts to me xD.
I don't think that it's hard to make a '' fearsome '' looking female character with most races unless you're talking about big and muscular ones which sure.
I dunno if I'd call the male characters fearsome unless you actually try and make them look that way.

Funnily enough I actually think that it's easier to make one with femroes than the male ones, sorry to all of you playing them but the male ones look silly to me lol.
The Au'Ra are the closest that I can think of where I can see the argument but even then they still have that edgy boyband look and a lot of people fetishize them.
It's just a different kind of sexy I guess.

The height difference I think is the main thing with the Au'Ra tho and their facial expression.
The female Au'Ra are tiny in comparisons and I dunno why.
I actually used to play one before and I liked how short she was but it's quite jarring in comparison with the male ones.

Same goes with NPC's too, I've never once thought of them as fearsome tbh xD.
But there are a lot that I've thought of as quite feminine or a handsome male model.

Edit: With the male Hrothgar in mind too the female ones would probably look like the female Worgen or something lol.
I do get the point of there not being enough muscular and larger female characters in general tho, but I think that FFXIV swings quite heavily in one direction with both genders. At least that's my pov.

Such a unique (easily the most unique that FFXIV has) race. But male-only. Why?

A second cat people race is not unique, in fact, cat people races in Asian MMOs are a bit out of hand at times. As to why, it was stated by the Dev team they ran out of time to make 2 new races with both genders so the focus on the gender of each, the ones most fitting. To make a Female Hrothgar, make a Keeper of the moon Female with max sliders, and the lion tail. It's temporary until they release them, which I expect at some time in the future. However not this next patch.

It's clear you didn't read or comprehend my post, so I'll break it down. I'm not refuting that feedback is warranted. In fact I agree with the OPs sentiment. But threatening the dev team is trashy. This relationship should have consideration and respect built into the interactions, they give us this forum to come with feedback, we don't have to whine or threaten them to express our thoughts.

Voting with your wallets and actually following through is the only real power consumers have in this instance. All these forum threads with people threatening this dev team is ridiculous. There is very little variety with female characters in this game. You can either be cute or sexy. Female for being the 1 exception. I mean how did they even made a dragon like race to be like cité anime girls when there was so much potential for something wild and new?
Adding another race and yet making it sexy and humanoid again adds little to no variety to be honest.
It's no wonder people want something different and new.

Femroes are a thing, my BFF has one, she's cool and stoic. Female Elezen, my other main not my posting main, is a Duskwood Elezen, she's cool, edgy, kind of a female Elric of Melniboné. My Au Ra Rean, might be tiny, and yes she can be cute, she's definitely got a different look. The fact that players use the options and glams to make cutesy characters, and not just the girls, is just the nature of the fan base, you don't have to go that route.

They were right in telling them what they wanted and why they would not sub to the game anymore. Whether they subbed or not the damage has been made; customers like him/her will get a bad image of the company and the game. These are the customers who will spread the word of mouth as to why XIV isn't a game worth playing. You know how word of mouth made A realm reborn a success? The opposite can happen as well, it's how 1.0 happened. Data points like this are important for Square enix to take into consideration, they know this person is one example of many.

Reason we don't have the missing genders is they said they didn't have enough time to make both races and they wanted to do hrothgar but knew people wanted viera, it was said in some past statement.

I'm assuming that's probably why we have the headgear situation to,rushed time and couldn't get the right fit in time, my personal opinion would be I wished they'd done the hrothgar both genders then in a future expansion done viera race.
