I feel like I have seen this sort of claim in every multiplayer game I have played.
Sorry FFXIV isn't as special as you think in this context.
If only XIV wasn't special in this context, but sadly it is. GCBTW is a widespread meme for a very good reason. Although, if you think that that isn't the case then I'd wager a bet that you'd fall right into that GCBTW category.
I have seen threads like this for other games I have played, and repeatedly for a very long time. FFXIV isn't that special. There are good, bad, casual, elitist and everything in between in every game.
Also I'm not really familiar with that meme. I don't really hang out in the sort of circles that reduce aspects of gaming communities into acronyms to be mocked.

I've played a good number of MMOs in my time online and XIV is the only one among then where bad players and bad play is quite literally paraded around as something to be praised, which is something that absolutely happens in a large percentage of this game's community. Maybe parts of the community wouldn't reduce other parts of the community to a 'meme to be mocked', as you say, if such ridiculous things weren't the norm around here.I have seen threads like this for other games I have played, and repeatedly for a very long time. Both groups are as bad as each other. Both of them want their way or nothing at all. It's a toxic mentality regardless of your skill level.
The complete inability to be flexible just because of your personal principals, not because of a requirement the game demands, is not constructive for group content. Especially when the content is pugged. It's unreasonable to expect random people you don't know to just magically play exactly how you want them to.
Some casuals frankly need to git gud, while some of the more skilled/experienced players need to get off of their high horse.
I'm not saying no one should have standards. Everyone should have standards. But not to the point of accepting only a very narrow spectrum of mindset from those around you, and resorting to vilifying and mocking anyone who disagrees.
How DARE you have common sense! Both groups are as bad as each other. Both of them want their way or nothing at all. It's a toxic mentality regardless of your skill level.
