No female Hrothgar? No sub.

It's definitely not the only, or even main reason. Female roegadyn exist.

The main reason is that they had already planned for Hrothgar to come next, but still had Viera waiting in the planning stages, and decided as this was likely going to be their last race, they'd compromise and get both out at once, because of how popular Viera are.

Which makes a ton of sense.
I get that some people are disappointed by it and I think that it's valid to be disappointed.
But at the same time pleasing the most amount of people is more important I think and I find it hard to believe that anyone would even argue against that this outcome pleased the most people than the reverse or probably if it had been only Hrothgar too.
It has nothing to do with sexism or sexist intent or anything like that.
Implying or even outright stating that as some people do is just wrong, but being disappointed isn't.

And I get being disappointed, I get disappointed by Western games all the damn time lol.
I think that they're usually so aesthetically boring for the sake of trying to be '' grounded '' and I hate it.

Don't want to make this another Viera vs Hrothgar thing (Cause lord knows that's too easy) but I think you make new races to add visual diversity above all else. They wanted to make people like myself who begged for Viera happy, but there's a number of easier ways to make tons of people in a game like this happy. We missed a chance at a unique race of beastly females with the lack of female Hrothgar, disappointing to say the least.

There is very little variety with female characters in this game. You can either be cute or sexy. Female for being the 1 exception. I mean how did they even made a dragon like race to be like cité anime girls when there was so much potential for something wild and new?
Adding another race and yet making it sexy and humanoid again adds little to no variety to be honest.
It's no wonder people want something different and new.

That's not true though. Female Highlanders, Roegadyn and Elezen aren't inherently cute or sexy, even Viera (barring their racial armor) don't have to be sexy or cute. Can you sex them up? Sure. Can you make them cute? Sure. Do many/most(?) people do this? Yes. But that's not something SE can control. The options are there, people just like what they like.

They said Viera/Hrothgar would likely be the last races added. They never commented on whether or not they would add genders.

That said, with the state of them and their missing headgear, would you really want the missing gear exacerbated by having even more things to work on that only a fraction of players will ever use?

I’m not against added races by any means if done intelligently (is use the same meshes but stretch it out)...but I can see why things are low on the totem pole for these races compared to content all players can utilize. Heck if o remember correctly most of the headgear was done on private time like the mahjong game, so that should tell you about how much resources are being dedicated to new races.

Such a unique (easily the most unique that FFXIV has) race. But male only. Why? Is it because women have to follow pretty standards? Is it because they can't be a little bulkier? My sub is cancelled and will be staying such till we get female Hrothgar. Its completly inexcusable.

In fairness I do think that the female Roegadyn are more conventionally attractive than the male ones, but then again I also think that beauty is a lot more connected with femininity and women that it's sometimes a bit unfair.
Like women can be perceived as beautiful with pretty minimum effort honestly, while men basically have to be Fabio.
We're just so hard-wired to see women as beautiful that what makes a man beautiful is almost lost or is just very extreme and rare exceptions. A woman or a female character will be labelled sexualized or naked because she shows a bit of cleavage, and a man can run around in his underwear and it's just seen as goofy or a '' male power fantasy ''.
Like women will be deemed as sexy for very minimal things but men have to go to very extreme lengths for people to even begin to entertain the idea that they're sexy.
Openly at least lol, it's not like women don't drool over shirtless male actors.

It's the same with power fantasies too and how much of an emphasis on masculinity there is.
It's sorta more about '' how much do you live up to a conventionally masculine ideal '' than '' does this make you feel good? ''.
To me playing a sexy or cute character is a power fantasy because it makes me feel good and I think that it's cool and badass.

And I think that sorta makes us view these things so differently too.
You have this base character, then you nudge them to be more feminine while you nudge the other to be more masculine.
And people go '' omg, the female character is so sexualized! ''.

I almost wish they'd made Hrothgar female exclusive and Vierra male exclusive.

There are already so many fearsome looking character options for males and so few for females (they only have femroes if they even count)

Likewise, there are already so many delicate and feminine looking options for females and so few for males (we really only have male miqote's)

The right decision was a full Hrothgar race and add full Viera race in the next FF mmo.
Now, I'm more of a fan of Viera than Hrothgar, furries can stay the hell away from me, but Yoshida wanted Hrothgar more than anything; it's his game so whatever, whatever makes him happy.
Half and half creates so many more problems than it addresses.
