People often have really lazy and short-sighted takes that they just have because they fit what they want to believe.
I saw this recently AGAIN with Ashe in Overwatch how tens of thousands of people are liking and spreading around Tweets about how she was '' supposed to be black '' and that she was in her '' *original* concept art ''.
And when it gets pointed out to them that she was white in her initial concept and that she was only black in literally ONE out of countless of different iterations that they explored after that initial one they're all like '' you're just nitpicking '' and go back to spreading misinformation and outrage about it...
People also act really ugly and racist about it, the whole thing just spirals out of control into '' white characters bad ''.
It's the same when people complain about '' too many attractive female characters in the game '', it spirals out of control into people just being misogynistic towards conventionally attractive women.
It's like people just want to believe the worst thing ever so that they can be angry about something.

I mean you're allowed to be disappointed that they didn't go with the black version of Ashe ( the devs did explain why in a panel ) or that female Hrothgar isn't a thing ( yet? ).
But that doesn't mean that the reason why is because the devs are racist or sexist...
It's like instead of entertaining the idea that there might actually be a genuine and way simpler explanation for it people just jump to the worst case ever.

It's definitely not the only, or even main reason. Female roegadyn exist.

The main reason is that they had already planned for Hrothgar to come next, but still had Viera waiting in the planning stages, and decided as this was likely going to be their last race, they'd compromise and get both out at once, because of how popular Viera are.
