Oh but it very much does. If you're doing baby pulls at level 50/60/70/80, and especially by 70/80, the that is quite telling of your competency level. Otherwise they would pull more as there is quite literally no reason to not do so.

It also says a lot about a tank's skill level if a tank pulls and they wipe the group either from a lack of heals or a lack of dps, and then proceeds to do the same thing again. And again. And again. Tanks need to learn how to read a room as well. Is pulling big the optimal way? Yes. But only if everyone else is up to the task. Sometimes that simply isn't the case. One can usually tell after the first pull or 2 though, or by looking at a healer's gear at the very least. When everyone's fairly green all around, slow and steady wins the race.

It's just surprising how much worse it is here, in a PvE, story focused game, than in other communities. Elsewhere you don't play "wrong" because you don't do something.

And people wonder why a lot of people only talk in FCs or say "Hi"

Honestly I don't even have any real negative experiences in this game that I can think of.
But I also think that on forums some of the uglier sides come out sometimes.

I mean if you're in a dungeon with someone then being a jerk or whatever might actually directly affect you in that the player might leave and you'll have to find a replacement.
But on forums you don't risk anything.
Twitter as a platform is so rife with this, it's a complete cesspool of garbage behaviour and genuinely bigoted and shitty hot takes because people don't feel like they're risking anything while if they did or said the same thing to someone in person or someone they relied on they'd be affected by it.
And in the rare cases that they are they start going on about how unfair it is that something that they said on the internet cost them their job or something because their boss saw it.

Same with the whole cancel culture thing, most people just bandwagon in on it without even knowing any of the people involved because they're cowards who just want to feel like they're a part of and doing something that matters but without taking any risks.
Like what's it to you if the person is actually innocent? You just move on with your life as if nothing happened, it's easy to act the way that people do when there is no risk involved on your end.

I think that how people behave on the internet is a good judgement of their character as a person, not saying that I am perfect because I am not.
But when someone is consistently awful just because they can, that says something about them as a person.

People here play a different game than I do. I run more duties than most in DF with my main and all my alts and there are rarely issues. Rarely does someone get kicked unless they DC or AFK or get chastised for poor play. People overall are pretty polite and understanding if someone makes a mistake.

For the most part this is my experience as well. Random people are always going to be random though.

A lot of dungeons have tons of gates and no legitimately huge pulls, and the ones that do have massive pulls I see groups fail attempting them all the time. I haven't been tanking a lot recently, but based on what I've seen I'd say the big pull in Anyder has about a 50% success rate when it's attempted. Most of the time I'd just prefer the group not even try; it's like an extra minute tops if you just cut that pull in half.

Regardless, massive pulls aren't the default; defaulting to them in a group of randoms is risky and not always worth it. I'd say 2-3 packs is the most common thing I see.

Yeah and so after is said and done things go generally pretty well. In my experience I rarely find a tank that doesn't pull wall to wall or a healer that doesn't dps. That's not to say there are never wipes and if things go bad in things like 24 mans or 8 mans they'll do an abandon but honestly other than 1st or 2nd week that doesn't happen all that often.

I've personally jumped on the A train bandwagon and am doing a lot fewer duties now given capping all my toons can be an effort.

Maybe for you or others who have no idea what they're doing on any job they play. For the rest of us, however, they very much are.

Eh, if many randoms don't do them and can't seem to handle them then they're not the default. Cry about everyone being bad all you want if it makes you feel special; I'm just stating observable fact. Them being the default expectation for some people doesn't make them the default.

If we're talking common sense, you generally don't default to the method with the highest failure rate when working with random people.
