Did a trial roulette last night and got Ramuh. Pretty standard. Except I couldn't help but notice that I was 2nd on the aggro list as an AST. I even got frozen in place and the DRG that could've saved me ran their AoE away, so I was frozen for the full duration. Guess where I was after that? Still 2nd. There was also two SAMs. I spent about 45 seconds doing literally nothing and still generated more aggro than all the DPS, my co-healer, and the OT without having any lingering healing happen while I was stuck. My goodness.

I've done thousands of duties and I almost never get more aggro than all the DPS in the party, especially melee like DRG and SAM. Depending on the competency of the players, the highest I usually see (besides tanks, of course) are SAM, NIN, RDM, and DNC, for some reason. And it doesn't explain why my co-healer was, I believe, 6th. While I was 2nd? Over all the DPS? You do know that's an 8-person duty with 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 4 DPS, right? If an AST is that high up in a duty that does not require a lot of healing (which could explain the amount of aggro, but it doesn't here), there's something wrong. That basically means I was out-DPSing all the DPS players. Which means they had to basically be asleep at the wheel. Reminder, I was frozen for almost a full minute and they never knocked me down from 2nd the whole time. Definitely not normal. Sorry to burst your bubble.

This. Ramuh normal is a special brand of special. I regularly top the dps list as a scholar.

I don't see how that specific duty can completely throw a wrench in how aggro works, but if you have the data I'd love to read it.

Not for me, I'm usually tanking though, though I do dps if that is the "in need" role. But I don't remember having trouble with that instance in recent or even distant memory and I've been around awhile.

I don't remember ever seeing it before either. And I regularly make a point of checking aggro when I'm healing (mostly to see which DPS is actually doing the most damage so I can give cards to them first). The MT had no issues obviously, but it seemed like everyone else was performing very poorly. I doubt it's because I'm just That Good at healer DPS. And Ramuh isn't one of the fights with unusual aggro (see: Rathalos), so I don't see how my story can be the norm. Unless people are just notoriously lazy in that fight in particular.

It comes at a point early enough in the story that players new to it are often likely to only have the minimum ilevel gear or near to it. I've found it's super easy as a synced down level 80 character of any role to outpace anyone in min ilevel gear there, moreso than any other content. It feels like something about the syncing to that specific ilevel (ilevel 65) doesn't balance well. And it's only Ramuh (Hard) in my experience. Shiva (ilevel 80) and Leviathan (ilevel 60) which are right before and after Ramuh don't have this effect as much in my experience.

Did have a trial roulette lately as a tank with a character on another data center i don't play that much, and got Ramuh. The other tank ask me "can i be MT ?" and i answer "yes, of course". The fight begin and i give myself a big scare when i see that i did forget to put the tank stance off and that i was about to out-aggroing the MT. I can already see him posting in this very thread how his trial roulette was horrible because of this OT who agree to something but do the contrary, but suddenly i remember that shirk exists and i use it on this AST, turn off my stance and stop using skills a while so that i can sink in the bottom of the aggro list. Crisis averted, even though i don't know if the AST did understand why he did get a so huge aggro generation for a while.

Just joking, it did not happen to me for real XD But you shouldn't trust aggro jauges too much when it comes to the dps, because they are only that, aggro jauges, not dps ones. There is some strange occurences, like WAR getting juge aggro generation with all their garanteed crit and direct hits, which makes them very hard to out-aggroing them with another tank even though their dps is the same.

With the removal of so much aggro utilities in 5.0 which makes aggro an all or nothing thing, i even wonder if these jauges shouldn't be removed from the UI. I see more and more people thinking that they are accurate description of players prowess, and that's not a good thing.

Did you switch to dps adds while someone else was blindly continuing to dps the boss ? The fact that you did the right thing will not show on your aggro jauge when everybody will switch back to the boss, while the person who did not care about the adds will be shown as an outstanding player. Did you save the 24 man run several times as an RDM verraising everyone to the point of getting out of mana with lucid dreaming and mana potions on cooldown, and not being able to dps anymore ? People will think that you are a shitty dps being so low on the boss aggro table, while this WHM who did not heal or raise anyone because he was so focused on dpsing and doing only that will be ranked higher than you even though he didn't assume the basic requirements of his role (true story of why i did get disgusted with RDM and did drop it after a catastrophic 24 man run where healers did go way too far with the green dps meme). Etc, etc.
