I mean...its the parents fault if they have a problem with it, for letting their teen play a game where they can encounter a bunch of different types of people of different age group. Not SE's.

Though I do think people shouldn't be looking for erp in party finder. There are a BUNCH of third party things you can use to find it...or just stand around in quicksand on balmung like everybody else.

Sorry, I "think of the children" because I was groomed on a similar game when I was a kid. It was a very, very negative experience for me.

Blaming parents is just indirect victim blaming when we're talking about a game that is specifically made available to and marketed towards minors. There's a reasonable expectation that SE will enforce it's own ToS, which they have largely failed to do in this particular context. People simply want SE to step up, enforce their own rules and get rid of some of the creeps.

Are we blaming the parents of the victims now? The rating is T not M. Blame falls to the people taking advantage of minors. They are the ones committing a crime. Teens have been playing MMOs, since they came out. They and their parents should be able to feel safe playing a game meant for Teens and up. You should not remove teens from video games, because pedophiles want to take advantage. You are effectively punishing the wrong group.

But yes, ERPers should absolutely use 3rd party apps. They should also make sure they are not allowing minors to join. They should also keep an eye out for pedophiles trying to use their 3rd party platforms under their noses.

While I do think exposing potential minors to ERP content is an issue. I also think adults shouldn't be punished for playing the game how they want to. Maybe SE can figure out some sort of filter system using the age attached so someone's account? Like a tagging system for party finder. I'm not sure how possible that would be but, it would at least create a safe guard of sorts. Also if anyone didn't tag appropriately then they would be punished somehow. (Maybe a ban or a heavy gil fee)

You can get a much better gauge of things if you get to know someone from non-ERP experiences. That includes 3rd party apps. How those individuals want to do it is up to them. The current method is to not screen at all and just advertise in game. That's a major issue. This game was not meant for ERP, so if you are going to do it, then you need to do a good job of screening. It's a lot better than the chances some ERPers are taking right now, setting themselves up, even if there is no ill-intent.

That would be SE pretty much endorsing ERP, if they are going to start selectively handing out bans when someone ERPing isn't of age according to their account's registered info.

I never said to push people into things. It's not my issue. It is theirs. They brought it on themselves. They have to fix it. Grooming someone is different from figuring out if this is someone that be be open to it and not coerce someone into doing it.

if you're looking for erp to get off, nobody in their right mind is gonna be like "hey can you tell me your age?" or "hey before we f**k can we hang out? just wanna get a gauge how old you are based on how you talk" or "hey can you take a picture of your id, upload it to imgur and send me a link to veriy your age?" and even then; Minors lie, they're not gonna say "Oh yeah I'm 16 btw." Because they know the person would (hopefully) bail out.

Well, a lot of those people are actually using mods. So they might look like they are in clothes on your screen..

I am highly aware of the mod community. I've recently had to change a cosplay because I got sick of people telling me what the Emperor's New Pants looks like on their screen.

To all the people saying "meh you're grooming kids with ERP, you can't have that," (Grooming kids is bad and anyone who does it deliberately should be punished.) I'd like to introduce you to a tiny loophole. "18+" on advertisements. This is to protect us from the liability. You're right, we don't know if people are underage. In the same way porn sites don't know that the user is under 18 despite them asking the question. You can't tell me that when you were in your teens, you didn't seek it out. Did you click "no" when it asked if you were 18? Probably not!

And I'm going to admit, I do work for one of these places, as a stage dancer (in clothes!). I have witnessed our management kicking out people if they suspect they're underage. I can't speak for all of the brothels in that regard, I just know that mine does.

Really, the only thing you do by cracking down on this is to make them seek it elsewhere. Oh, now they're doing it in private on Discord? Ban from Discord! They used Google to find naughty videos? IP block from Google! Where do you want this to end? When everyone is a never-nude in RL because we've banned every available outlet including actual sex?

This request is as ridiculous as it is petty. "Stop having fun, guys." The only thing that needs to change is people putting up multiple advertisements for one place.

There is the problem. You blame the parents over the actions of the people doing wrong. A mother should not have to stand over her son's shoulder, just so he can play a video game rated teen. Like someone else noted, this is basically extending the victim blaming.

You should know someone's age first. It's highly irresponsible to ERP with a teen, knowingly or not. You need to protect yourself, too. Putting 18+ in an advertisement is going to draw some teens, not send them away.

This is an mmorpg and focuses on action/adventure playstyle not intimate play. That's why it's not rated M.
