I could have sworn the tooltip said it only affected the AoE eye attack specifically, so I did a quick google search. It looks like it did indeed say that at one point, it was reported as a bug, filed as an accepted bug, and SE chose to update the tooltip to match the effect as the fix rather than change the effect to match the tooltip. Ugh, i have been having some bad runs laterly.
Malikeh's Well. The party is as follows DRK (me), SCH, RDM, BRD (first timer).
I do the first usual double pull. Things are dying slowly and SCH clearly struggles with keeping me alive. I do a quick inspect. SCH has unaugmented Scaevan. In Malikah's Well. Fuck me. BRD sprout has MSQ 76 HQ stuff, RDM is 80 and things should die quicker, but no. RDM is doing single target rotation and is hardcasting Veraero. Damage is so low, that i am second on DPS list only slightly behind the BRD. RDM is somewhere behind me and SCH does mostly whatever. So, i kinda had to single pull for the most of the instance. Do you know two packs after the bucket boi? 2 scorpions and 2 elementals + 1 big thing? I nearly died there while using TBN on cooldown and running out of my defensive CDs.
Aery. I am once again on DRK, there's a SCH, a sprout BRD and a first timer SAM. Clearly a boosted SAM, since they only have SAM at 70, full set of Scaevan and only 1 other class as conjurer at 37. What they do? Sprint ahead grabbing mobs? That behaviour continued through out the dungeon and i had the urge just to let them die once or twice, but SCH kept them alive. Oh, well. Noone followed any mechanics, SAM kept standing in bad, BRD was decent and SCH healed like a champ, but already shitty dungeon was made worse by that SAM.
Then there was Ruby Normal in Trials. Due to low DPS in general and many deaths we kept wiping to the enrage in both phases. But somehow we managed in the end. Wish i was on Rez Mage to help with all the bodies on the floor, but MCH can only do so much.
Sometimes rumors are just... rumors.
I've been leveling my Sam a bit and after we had exceedingly bad luck with tanks, a friend leveling healer quit leveling via dungeons for the time being. So I was on my own.
1st run
Queued for Aery and everything looked fine. No bad gear, no missing jobstones or anything.
Tank pulled the first two packs of mobs, HP were dropping, dropping, dropping...uhm, healer? Are you there? Tank almost dead. Tank fully dead.
I have been promoted to tank! I hit Bloodbath & Arm's Length and spammed my aoes. Second Wind, Third Eye, Feint and Leg Sweep after it ran out, mobs still alive. Uh-oh...
And I have been promoted to floor tank.
The healer was apparently busy throwing Regen on themself and the other dps, running aroung for a bit, tossing a random Swift Medica 2, Regen on the other dps again(who wasn't tanking btw).
We tried via auto-translate to get them to use Asylum, Assize and Cure 2 for the tank but they didn't and the tank lost all confidence and pulled as small as possible, sometimes even waiting for a bit for CDs to come back up.
1st boss the healer dies to the prey mark and Cachexia after.
Tank drops and drops and finally drops to the floor. Oh no. Not again.
Boss turns around and I swear I saw him grinning.
Bloodbath it is! Once everything was on CD and the add and boss kept noming me, I finally died but the Mch managed to down the boss shortly after I died. Well, dead is dead.
Respawn, continue. The run took forever because the healer kept dying on bosses and the tank had to do really tiny and careful pulls, even intentionally letting me tank one of the mobs from time to time with my own CDs so damage is spread a little and he doesn't die from regular pulls. The tank iniated a vote kick but it didn't pass and I wasn't in the mood to take a 30min penalty on top of another queue as we were already halfway through.
2nd run
Vault
Ah, Vault. Every healer's nightmare when it came out. But it has gotten much more tame since then or so I thought. Of course I would have to pay for thinking it.
It went fine but during the 2nd pull it became clear that I had gotten yet another tank with connectivity issues. Uh-oh... I know where this is going.
Tank dc'ed during the pull after the 1st boss and everything immediately made a beeline for me. Bloodbath, Arm's Length and go! Props to the healer for keeping me alive for that long but once all my own CDs ran out, I was tanking the floor again. The two made it, tank came back, apologises and we continued.
During the 2nd boss he dc'ed again and this Grimmaux guy hits hard. The poor healer got a heart attack everytime his buster dropped me from near full life to 20% or so even with Third Eye and Feint.
The tank luckily came back before I ran out of CDs and for once, I wasn't tanking the floor.
Next big pull... guess what? Yes, Sam was tanking.
The dc icon popped up and I immediately saw the Synastry buff on me and the mad heal spam started. With both of us spamming everything we had we barely kept me from tanking the floor again but I guess the healer got some grey hairs over it.
The tank was doing really well, it was really just his dcs that made it difficult but we all agreed to stick with him.
Last boss and I got chained to the other dps who...dc'ed. Standing in the middle. Oh, come on....
Of course I died because I could't break the chains. The healer tried his best to keep me alive and I hammered my CDs but no chance.
We wiped it and tried again once the dps came back and this time, nobody dc'ed.
I've really been trying to do all I can but leveling dps can be really frustrating if you're stuck with problematic tanks and/ or healers. There's only so much I can do to make the run smoother or make up for mistakes.
Can I get my pocket healer back now?

Went to queue in as a healer - saw a very intelligent tank.
By intelligent, I mean tank equipped with all types of casting gear on both sides - gear ranging from lv 15 to lv 41 as well as all accessories lv 10-38. All gear focused on giving intelligence so the tank had paper defenses throughout the whole run. This tank also had GNB and BLM at lv 80 and many other DPS jobs at lv 70+ so I figured they just didn't have any actual tanking gear and couldn't bother to buy some ARR level tanking gear since they can drop in the dungeon.
When the tank gear for their current level did drop, and they passed on it though... Just why
I can also be a lala healer. Because, you know, they can fit in your pocket.![]()
Is that a Lala in your pocket or are you happy to see me?
Lala, cat boy, any race is fine. Just head over to Light DC and we're good. The "I'm one step short from biting my keyboard" stories keep piling up. Pocket healer needed asap.
