Anything will suck if they end up like summoner lol... imagine a beast master job where you can't use your pets to tank for you.Ok so like...similar to BLU.
The job revolves around getting new skills by killing monsters/or in BST case capturing them?(Idk...never played FF11)
If BST was a full job. It would honestly suck because then it'll end up like summoner where you're only using a handful of certain monsters. Probably like 3 just like summoner.
But if it was a limited job, you can use a large amount of different types of monsters in the wild that each have their own few set amount of skills and possibly own stats.
There would be way more creativity if the job was limited and had its own battle content like BLU, maybe even its own PVP to fight other players with their own beast.
So imo.
I hope BST will come as a Limited job as a form of new content.
It could even work with the upcoming farms, you can breed new monsters that have better abilities or stats or something.

Eh. If you do set up action bars and swap macros for BLU and optimize your abilities for positioning and each role, then it starts to become less of a hodgepodge. It becomes clearer what the job needs in the future, and what spells need to be adjusted. Like I’ve said, BLU is basically being beta tested under the guise of being “limited”. It’s so close to being a normal job it’s almost frustrating that they’re apparently not doing anything with it in 5.3.I think that they leaned more into Blue as being true to its job origins than you could possibly get with a random Caster DPS honestly. It feels very hodgepodgey and random, while I don't think there is any possible way they could replicate that in FFXIV as a normal job.
To the guy above, that sandwich analogy was spot on.

Have they given any indication they intend to make BLU a normal job?
Like, that I'll be able to que into current content with one?

I mean, if so then that's really not fitting Blue Mage so not something I'm going to approve of. And given it really doesn't have anything resembling combos (that I'm aware of at least) or procs it at least seems rather different from a traditional DPS. The AoEs for it are kind of off for a ranged caster too.Eh. Yeah... BLU doesn't resemble a normal job at all, and it would need to be completely reworked from the ground up to become one, sorry.
No, no they haven't. It's pure wishful thinking that goes against what the devs have said and done. I'm honestly surprised that there are people still going "it's a beta test" for BLU. It seems like such a November 2018 kind of thing.
From interviews, BLU (and other possible limited jobs) will likely always be one expansion behind as a way to not let them influence the current expansion's balance. That doesn't exclude the option of giving limited jobs exclusive content for them to do, just that they'll always be 10 lvls behind.
Unless they do a 180 out of nowhere, that'll likely be where the limited job concept will remain.

No it just requires them to stop being so rigid and inflexible when it comes to job and class design. We're already seeing that mentality catching up to them with many jobs feeling exactly the same as others and general homogenization.
If it's a limited job then I can't take it into most content or have it at max lvl so I'd rather beastmaster be a normal job and make some other job as a limited job.
I like the Blu content, it's fun, but beastmaster I wanna main and run roullets etc. with it, can't do that on a limited job.

As I said earlier, not automatically averse to the idea, but the whole concept needs expanding on.
The limited job name needs dropping, in fact all links to the other jobs need dropping IMHO. Introduce the Disciple of Knowledge with Blue Mage, Beastmaster and Puppetmaster all off together in their own little corner of flexible customization.
After that they'll need their own duty finder, that needs its own roulette's, those roulette's need to reward their own currency, that currency needs gear you can buy with it, that gear needs to be useful for farming new weapons from the recycled trials they expect me to do, and so on and so on (also I wanna do PotD and HoH with these jobs.)
It all just needs more, a few solo challenges, titles and a mount just isn't cutting it. Gear and weapons is the most glaring to me, which genius came up with a collect-a-thon job that has pretty much no glams to collect...
Edit: or to sum it up, limited is bad, but different could actually be pretty cool.

In dps mimicry BLU is a job that revolves around 30/60/90/120s burst windows with DOT maintainance and fliller inbetween, on closer inspection its basically the same level of complexity as a level 60 smn with a fairly similar but unique playstlye and absolutely has a defined rotation its doing. Not resembling a normal job at all as you put it is blantantly false when the framework of a regular job is clearly there (and might I add balanced when you remove the "problem spells" like the mimicry buff and final sting it does about the same dps as a level 60 job)
