It must be ship with its route ending in Rhotano and the time must be the twilight when you get to the last zone. This only happens once every 10 to 22 hours. Check NPC and see the schedule and it will make sense.

And than see my prior post. when you get to the LAST zone on the trip.

Sadly this is a common practice in MMORPGs that have time based subscriptions, not that I mind subscription I love that this game keeps content coming out. It is just the massive RNG and Time Gaps that can mess with your personal schedule should you attempt to complete these achievements.

This fish makes Ruby Dragon seem like a breeze and Diadem Farming entertaining...... If we need examples of time sinks and long waits.

But the completionist in me will keep trying. I am really letting SE know they added way too many ways to not get this one done theoretically I could never get this done ever if I do not get extremely lucky. on avg more than 50% of the time we never even get the spectral current turning the whole trip into a massive time waste.

Theoretically I could run the Drowned City of Skalla forever and never get the fending coat.

Theoretically I could send my retainer out forever and never have them come back with the special untraceable onion helm (the one you only get from them, not the other one).

Theoretically you could never get the special ring for getting 1st prize at the jumbo cactpot.

Man ... Thinking about it there are quite a few things we do in FF14 that do not guarantee the reward you're shooting for. In some ways that's scary, but in others it helps fishing feel kinda "at home" for me.
But I got the fending coat.
My retainer brought back that helmet.

I'm in the same boat with this damn coral manta. 81 attempts, 40 currents, 20 triggers, 40 trigger casts,2 bites no catch.

And as I am typing this, I just got my SECOND sothis. Which is absurd since I've only spent half the time in Galadion as South Merlthor, and yet it's bit three times now.

Yuck... If each attempt is about 20 minutes that's almost 7 hours of NOTHING.
