Do you have any faith in the Nier plot?

Now, do you mean it'll be more "Nier: Automata" or more "Nier". So far most of what I've seen does resemble both games to some degree (more Automata based on the enemies and locale, of course), though I would like to see more elements from Gestalt/Replicant. That's probably unlikely, though.

Eh, assuming you’re up to date in the main overall plot it fits in fine.

In the far-ish future, the crystal tower reawakens in a world during massive war/famine with very advanced tech (see psuedo-Alexander manipulating time and space). Said tech moved the crystal tower both back in time and to another plane of existence. Who’s to say the space station we see crashed down was not brought with in this time slip?

It's a tough call. Based on what YoshiP has said, he basically gave Yoko Taro free reign to do whatever he wanted with the storyline and Yoko Taro isn't really an easy one to get a handle on as far as storytelling goes. It could end up tying into FF14 or it could end up crazy and off in la la land somewhere. That said, the story so far has actually been pretty interesting if you consider what we see and find out outside of the actual raid itself. But it hasn't really been all that connected to 14 as we know it.

So, while I do think the story will be interesting and will likely tie closer into 14 than it appears at the moment, I doubt it will be the sort of completely satisfying seamless connection that some people want it to be. I trust Yoko Taro at least that much as he really does seem to respect FF14 and YoshiP. And I imagine that it will remain pretty heavily as Nier (and maybe Drakengard) fan service regardless of where the story does or does not go.

It'll probably be surprisingly good, as I don't expect it to be good. I do expect fun fights though. Copied Factory is fun for me, heh.

Mix into FF14 lore? No, and imo, it shouldn't. Nier has redonkulous lore both in scope and scale. I really wouldn't want to deal with the implications it would bring to 14. Having this incident be a more or less secluded one is ideal.

I am more or less certain the story will be fine, and impactful in some way on the Nier lore. I also expect more Nier-ish raid mechanics and red balls, which I like.

Something I hope for, but doubt we'll get is a crushing existential crisis, with a side dish of Yoko Taro flavoured depression. Guess I can keep hoping though.

So far, we've only gotten Act I of a Three Act story, and Act I was by and large dedicated to setting up mysteries to be revealed in Acts II and III.

I am definitely curious to see where they go with this, so I guess I do have faith in the Nier plot.

I don't know if I have faith. The story in the first raid was quite simple and I personally didn't find much interest in it. I guess Automata fans were happy to see their beloved characters, but to me none of them did anything outstanding (they just... fought). So I don't know what to expect for the next one. I'm just eager to see the new equipment, hahaha.
