I'm okey with a feature like that. People can activate it if they want to or not. It would definitely please an audience. I don't see where the bad thing lies here?

I would not likely use it, unless I am viewing a cutcene for the first time, and someone's glamour is rather unfortunate.
It would be cool if it were implemented, but it is not the biggest deal to me. Selective implementation sounds harder to do, not I do not know much about such things.

I'm not against the idea of hiding glamours because I think it "harms" me.
I'm against it because I don't think the idea brings much to the game and I'd rather the Devs work on more important things.

Such as...?
The developers in charge of quality of life and UI options are not the same as those in charge of creating actual content.
The coding for the feature also likely exists already, since the game has disabled and replaced glamour during certain quests already.

Considering that Square Enix's answer as to why we can't have more inventory space has been concerns about the server load this would present, I would say, quite literally, "just about anything else," because I'm almost certain that would be a cited reason as to why this can't happen.
Even if you won't agree that the server load could possibly be an issue for them (despite various requests not being doable due to their concerns with the server load), Square Enix has very unique "problems" to work through when it comes to FFXIV and I don't believe trying to find a way to allow players to manually mess with the visuals specifically for other players (while somehow unaffecting themselves, as would seem to be the request) is going to be the wisest use of their time.
It also wouldn't just be one team to work on this, as someone had previously suggested. Multiple teams would have to make adjustments if this were to work.

Honestly, they only use "but muh servers!" when it suits them. They have shown on more than one occasion that they can make things happen if they want to, sometimes making us pay extra for it.Considering that Square Enix's answer as to why we can't have more inventory space has been concerns about the server load this would present, I would say, quite literally, "just about anything else," because I'm almost certain that would be a cited reason as to why this can't happen.

That's correct. It's an excuse that has worn thin at this point. WoW is a much older game and has repeatedly upgraded its servers and overcome many limitations in order to add key features and meet player demand. For a time, Blizzard did try to hide behind the same excuses - but players, rightly, continued to push and call them out.
There's some interesting contradictions to be found, too. The Chinese and Korean servers, apparently, have many more housing wards available to players. Whereas the Japanese, North American and European servers are lagging behind.

Well, 250 pages later and I guess now have I decided to weigh in on this.
From a technical standpoint, I support this. It might be late in the game to want this to ease city state loading and lag but having remembered my Vindictus experience years back when it was just debuting, I was thankful for the green robes that everyone else was garbed with when I booted the game. The cloak only was seen in towns and nowhere else in the game.
Aesthetically speaking, I also support this. Like some other people here have shared, when it comes new msq patches or major story patches, my clothing preferences are along the line of "regular" combat garb. Once the novelty of the msq wears off, any iota of care for "proper" outfits would be long gone.
With all being said though, I don't have actually any hope of this becoming real because the response is too polarized and devs have shown time and time again that they typically go with a majority agreement. Even if I were to exclude repeat posters, we'd still end up more or less 50/50 on the topic.
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
Just make it so the Ignore function completely removes the ignored player from your in-game experience.

(I hate daily post limits....)
That's just it though, everyone keeps going on about "more important things", but what's considered "important" is different from person to person. On top of that it's not like we're asking or expecting them to devote their entire staff and focus on this, just if they feel like they can spare the time and attention on it
