Your not getting the point I was making.

Yoshi P outright said no to a teenage race due to how the very very very low amount of players that will lewd them.

It is not unfeasible to realise he may say no to this feature for the very very very low amount of players who would actively discrimate against people. You know the idiots who would open their mouths saying they have the filter on because they don't want to see any x, y or z type of people aloud in chats.

Both are bad, the child porn is definitely way worse, but discrimination is just as serious an issue with serious ramifications in real life, Yoshi P and SE may just not bother with something if it could lead to such an issue happening regardless how small (which would be very small in this game)

That is the point I was making that the issues the feature could bring, emphasis on could, might be bad enough that it warrants never touching it, which is why I also say it sucks for those that wouldn't (which would be the vast majority of players) because the actions of the few ruin it for the many.

And my point is that the severity of the potential abuse matters a lot. We have a vote kick that actually does get abused quite a bit by preformed parties. We have people who abuse roulettes by MAKING others kick them out of instances they don't want to do. We have people who abuse Mentor chat moderation privileges. We have people who abuse others using certain emotes.



The abuse potential of this particular suggested feature is extremely limited. Especially if suggestions in this thread are used (limit name displays to first initials, change model to "default random"). I honestly cannot think of what "discrimination" potential you're thinking of. Discriminate against who.. people who cannot stand to NOT make people see their online avatar? The reason they full stop will not do "teenage" characters or younger is it potentially facilitates actual illegal activities.

Discrimination does happen in FFXIV, I have seen it happen on 3 occasions with my time playing FFXIV since patch 2.2, it is sparse but it happens, you cannot deny that there won't be a single abuser of this feature who would use it to fuel their discrimination, SE may just not want to give them that fuel in the 1st place, sucks but it is an understandable viewpoint.

It's not discrimination to not want someone in your party, or want to interact with them, or not approve of their choices. This feature does not facilitate anything other than personal choice.

I must confess, I'm a little confused by the direction of the conversation. Yoshi-P is absolutely correct in stating that male viera should not be designed to resemble children or teenagers - but I'm failing to see how that is relevant to this suggestion. For starters, Yoshi-P has not ruled out the inclusion of male viera outright. He has stated that if resources and time allows, then they may be added to the game as a playable option. Most people want them to be designed to look like and resemble conventionally attractive adult men, too.

I think more care needs to be taken not to associate personal preferences in regards to glamour with 'bigotry' or far more dire, horrid crimes.

True, for some reason people have to come up with these extreme cases cause deep down the only reason they do not want this feature is because people may potentially not see them differently. Which on paper seems like a shallow reason if one really thinks about it.

Both sides have nothing more to debate or talk about. When you start bringing in freaking LIKES you're out of ideas mate. At this point I don't want it because the OP clearly was a troll and only wanted the feature because she didn't like men in dresses. It's in her first post.

How so? I brought up the amount of likes in response to a poster deceptively claiming that only a few players wanted the idea to be implemented. Something that simply isn't true based on a number of factors. Though rather than dig through the thread for various quotes from various players, pointing at the total likes served as the more efficient route.

I'm not going to speak on behalf of the OP as I don't know her, so I'd suggest others take the same stance. Though I'll point out that the OP expressed a dislike in regards to skimpy glamour and did not exclusively focus on men in dresses. It's quite interesting to me how that is repeatedly misunderstood throughout the thread, though - so I suppose at the end of the day there really is plenty left to talk about, eh?

I mean she still said it, it's still there. Even IF she also put in girls in bikinis in there too she still said she hates men in dresses. So my only point is I don't wanna support anything or anyone that is that closed minded. Hey I'm only human . But yes, there's nothing to talk about anymore.. tho in my opinion the moment she mentioned the whole men in dresses bit there was nothing to discuss there either. As far as the likes go... yeah 150 or whatever it was on a forum where only so many come too in the first place is still nothing to boost about I think. And like the other poster said a post that was in the other direction has more likes, so if going by that OP still loses honestly. But likes doesn't mean anything when only like 2% of the entire playerbase even comes here.

Context is important. Nobody's character is real - they're just a bunch of pixels on a screen. Something to dress up in various outfits. Not everybody is going to approve of or like looking at every outfit in the game - and that is hardly the worst thing in the world, nor is it necessarily 'close minded'.

As a gay guy, I think it does actual victims of bigotry and discrimination a huge disservice to try and link such things to this thread. Nobody is owed attention no matter how they choose to dress in-game and if the goal is legitimately to provide more choice for players, then an optional toggle would be a wonderful addition to the game.

Especially when many people have been requesting it to be added for performance issues or immersion related issues.
