Context is important. Nobody's character is real - they're just a bunch of pixels on a screen. Something to dress up in various outfits. Not everybody is going to approve of or like looking at every outfit in the game - and that is hardly the worst thing in the world, nor is it necessarily 'close minded'.

As a gay guy, I think it does actual victims of bigotry and discrimination a huge disservice to try and link such things to this thread. Nobody is owed attention no matter how they choose to dress in-game and if the goal is legitimately to provide more choice for players, then an optional toggle would be a wonderful addition to the game.

Especially when many people have been requesting it to be added for performance issues or immersion related issues.

Then tell that to OP. but everything you just said can and is applied to you as well. This is why I said ( I think I said it..) that EVERYONE needs to chill. Noone needs to conform to anyone. It shouldn't even be an issue. What do people do when you see something you don't like outside? You don't tell congress to make a law that says black men can't wear jeans do you? Just stop caring what people are wearing. I promise you it's not a big deal. And I'm not for or against it. Well I AM against it but that's ONLY because of OP. If she didn't bring in something so baseless like " OMG I'm scared of a man in a dress in a VIDEO GAME " Then I wouldn't care anyway. But she did so no support.

Then tell that to OP. Because OP IS closeminded and her post the first one matter of fact proves it. I don't care about anything else that's said, OP and her first post is what I'm basing my opinion off of because that's the start of this topic. And going off THAT... no support because OP is either a troll at best or horribly close minded at worst. So that's the context I'm going with.

I disagree. There's nothing in the OP that necessarily suggests to me that she is close-minded. I'd argue the opposite - since as I mentioned in an earlier post, she took the time to criticise the glamour choices of both men and women. It's also possible for someone to simply not like a particular aesthetic or want to look at it. Everybody has different tastes, after all.

Furthermore, even if the OP were to hypothetically be a 'troll' or a 'bigot' then that is irrelevant in the context of the thread as a whole as there's plenty of posters, myself included, who have voiced their support of the thread's premise.

To try and invalidate those in support of the idea, then, does strike me as being close-minded and so I'm hoping that is not where things are going here.

And you are not? After all, you are willing to prevent a feature that could help during certain content to people with a more modest computer (and I really hope you are not one of those elitists that respond with: stop being poor and buy a new one). Also, I will let you know this: if someone is really bothered by it that (man using dresses or whatever) the option to mod any of those clothing to look like something else is already there. Hell! How knows, maybe somewhere a homophobic/misogynist/racist group are using those tools to edit out everything that offended them right now! Better SE does something about it and removed the ability to mod FFXIV.

Stop comparing real life to a virtual world. Those rules and social dynamics do not exist in FFXIV. In real life I cannot alter my perception to make you disappear or conform to my personal tastes. In a virtual world I can adjust my perception with nearly no limits and you will never know or need to know.

But OP did the same thing. When you start to talk about what's believeable in a video game where one day we're fighting demons and dragons and the very next day we're fighting robots that look like they came from a sonic or megaman game and the next day fighting a street fighter rip off then I'm sorry. Everything's game. A man in a dress being the thing that kicks someone out a video game is silly. I mean.... it's a video game. A video game where people run around with cat ears and a tail, or potato looking people running around. This game is not realistic. Never has been and never will be. None of that matters though since the reason this was even started was because the OP didn't like men in dresses.

The OP is requesting to customize their experience in a fantasy game. Not to limit ANYONE ELSES. This is not the same thing and not requesting a real life dynamic. You keep harping on the men in dresses thing though.. I think you may be projecting a little.

We already broke the wall of being -realistic- when miqo were designed. So realistic can't be it. As this was never that. Because she also mentions skimpy female glamours too as being something she doesn't care to see, but everyone only focuses on them saying men in dresses which is dishonest. That may have been the tipping point for them, but it isn't the main argument. If they'd said that specifically and only that then yeah, you'd have somewhat of an argument.

Not intended as an insult. I'm saying it because the OP literally addresses it within their post. They KNOW people are going to go on tirades about how "OH ITS CAUSE THE DRESSES ALONE!". Yet you persist on focusing on that point. Yes.. they said the words men in dresses twice, admitted. But you need to discuss where we are in the conversation, not what someone said once.

nobody is dying for ANYTHING in this game, but as we keep saying it would be nice if we could control our experience in this game we pay to play on our hardware we paid for using the internet service we pay to access. You can keep trying to call out the OP but as we're nearly 250 pages in and the conversation is HERE and not THERE. I am not OP, my problems are not theirs but the feature we're discussing would be nice to have.
