I would say that alone puts the idea of a non FF MMO to rest honestly. DQ is easily one of the bigger names SE has, and with how the latest DQ did it still isn’t enough to get them to translate it.

The Dragon Quest series has not sold well outside Japan from what I was able to gather. It also released in the same year 2.0 did. So I suspect SE did not want it competing with FF in Western markets since competition in the MMO is much higher in the West. By now, DQX is just too old to likely find a stable enough audience to make porting it worthwhile.
Pretty much. It just doesn't make sense for them when Final Fantasy is such a hugely recognized brand. If they announce Final Fantasy VII has the next MMO, people will try it on name alone; 1.0 is proof enough of that. Whereas if they announced a new IP entirely, you won't garner nearly the same interest.

The Ivalice of Vagrant Story, FFT, FFTA, FFTA2, FFXII, and FF:RW all exist in one universe together separate from the Ivalice of FFXIV. The story of FFXIV's Ivalice is sort of backwards compared to the original since FFXII and the advance games are set long before Tactics and Vagrant Story. Also there's that weird thing they did where Ashe and Rasler are suddenly twins instead of a married couple and Delita isn't a terrible person.+1 for this. I always felt like Ivalice was one of the most stable, believable 'worlds' that Square ever created (I know it's technically in Eorzea, but it really doesn't feel like it at all). The War of the Lions was so substantial that you could either set the game during it, or just preceding it during Fifty Years War (which might be the better choice).
But, yeah - I'm all in. Especially if the PvP component is slightly more emphasized to reflect the conflicted nature of the setting.
I love the Ivalice series but I don't really see an MMO set during the Tactics area of the timeline since by then all the moogles, viera, bangaa, etc had died and it's just humans. Unless they do another separate universe deal. Either way, I don't see a new FF MMO anywhere near on the horizon.

That... makes zero sense. On so, so, so many levels. Dragon Quest still gets releases outside of Japan. Square Enix isn't forced to do anything to Dragon Quest or anything else by "the West". Social Justice Warriors, when used as a pejorative, is almost universally an indicator not to take a response seriously, so on and so forth. It's just a bizarre and nonsensical stance. It isn't released because Dragon Quest isn't popular enough to support an MMO in a meaningful sense outside of Japan, pretty straight forward.
I'm sorry but SJWs have ruined games like the Last of Us 2, Mario Kart 8, and Final Fantasy VII RemakeThat... makes zero sense. On so, so, so many levels. Let's do the "...500 years later" from the end of the original FFVII![]()

Lol. That is the wildest take ever. Yes, SJW's and their love for *checks notes* "anti-gravity". Very important. Please, continue sharing such wildly insightful thoughts. Maybe next you'll blame them for Ultimecia's goal of time compression or other feats of dimensional manipulation.
I would love to see them create another MMO revolving around Ivalice with the style being FFT/Tree of Savior.
