By the Twelve and all other deities I would certainly hope not, would easily be a skip for me. XIV already rips way too much from Ivalice and it's one of the biggest issues I have with XIV as it is right now. Ideally the next MMO would be more of its own thing, as this one already kind of borrowed from XI a touch more than I'd like as well, let alone the superfluous Ivalice aspects.

I love Ivalice - it hits all the right notes for me in terms of world building and it handles political intrigue exceptionally well. It helps that it also has one of the best depictions of the 'Empire' trope to show up in a JRPG. I'm hoping XIV takes more cues from XII when it comes to Garlemald.

I don't dislike XIV, though it could do with higher stakes. Too many plot points end up amounting to very little consequence and are conveniently wrapped up in a neat little bow that favours the protagonists.
Unfortunately, one of XIV's biggest problems is that our Empire has been a joke pretty much since launch. They've literally never won (unless you count the Seventh Umbral Calamity, which I do not, since it was told mostly via a bad previous game and a cutscene) - we've never suffered any significant setbacks. The Imperial leadership is an exceptional cohort of incompetent windbags, blockheaded strongmen, and preening morons (Zenos falling decidedly into the latter category). Nothing that they do or have ever done can be taken even slightly seriously.

I firmly believe that the next FF MMO needs some factional component that pits players against each other. That doesn't mean that we have to live in constant, open war like WoW PvP servers... but some sort of tense frozen conflict would be excellent, and would compel the writers to not so strongly favor the "hero component" of the player faction because all factions would be player factions. This also, by the way, further supports the candidacy of Ivalice, which was very even-handed in the portrayal of differing sides.

When SEQX makes another MMO I'd like to see it not based on Final Fantasy.
Outside of the fact that they're more than capable of making something new and exciting, they have a million other high profile works they could base an MMO off of. And then their next MMO wouldn't feel like it's be competing with 11 or 14 (assuming they're still around).

So they already did do the MMO after XIV as something else.

Not sure why but I particularly loved the world setting of FFIX, in comparison to other FFs. So if we are all having our own pipe dream fun, I'd throw my hat that direction.

I say not sure why because I think all the FF have really nice settings (with probably my least favorite being FFXIII- but that has less do with the environments and more like the game feeling as you play, quite a few characters I just couldn't stand listening to, skipping or zoning out as they talked- which is something I normally never do, and the corridor syndrome was way too strong lol).

Particularly avoiding anything too high tech, I think it's fun SE is doing that here, and I love that one zone that is uh.. yeah that one that starts with an A lol. It (that one place) was something I had wanted to see in this game since it fits the setting, I think, and I'm very glad they did it as it was very cool and well done. BUT, I feel like there is something really fun with the whole steam punk-ish magic setting, and I'd love for that to be the main theme. With if anything showing up later, like in FFIX (Terra empire), being very hybrid alien technology rather than just pure tech.

Just feel like it captures both a wonderful wanderlust fantasy setting with some beautiful whimsy, that still can be taken seriously. That said I'd probably be pretty happy with anything so long as the next MMO takes it's memory issues to the back of the shed and ends them lol, no more limited housing, no more limited glamour logs, no more limited mog shop account binding issues, less character creation limitations, no issues with memory. My programming knowledge is pretty much dirt (I've some classes, and vague ideas how things work) but somehow seems like many MMOs figure out how to do what they want to do with their memory issues but FFXIV is like "can't, everything will explode if we change it". Wont say it's easy to fix, and I'm sure being so restrictive has some benefits, but I wish to not hear or wonder if SE can actually do a feature or if they're going to have memory issues again.

That's actually the main reason I'm vaguely interested in the next FF mmo, I just don't want to hear or think that SE can't do something because the system can't handle it- less restrictions on what the creativity of their team dreams up. There are other minor reasons like making airships important or I'd love for them to build up a more fantasy based design of their jobs, like dragoons shouldn't be taking fall damage or it would be wonderful if mages had spells for things outside of combat (like WoW has slow fall)- this stuff being mentioned in another thread though.

Although just to be very clear that is no death sentence of FFXIV, the game is fun, the game is a good mmo, and they can easily keep it making money, repeating it: the game is not bad. I just wish to see things that seem to be like they're impossible or too late in the pipeline to bother changing, that I believe if they had taken the knowledge they've learned, sometimes painfully (1.0 to 2.0), and researched strongly all the competition they've had and have, that they could make something really magical. Like I feel ShB had wonderful pacing and feel like "holy cow, if this was the first part of the game players were introduced to, rather than ARR which has a number of growth stretch marks, then this would easily legendary mmo". So none of what I said is like "make another cause this is bad" and is more like "I bet you could blow our minds now if you made your systems future proof and prepared from the beginning". In argument of myself though WoW has rewrote itself in essence a few times, including major graphic and character updates- FFXIV could do that too.

Ive never played FF XII. I see it on Steam named " FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE - This revered classic returns, now fully remastered for the first time for PC, featuring all new and enhanced gameplay."

Was there a classic version of 12 that I missed also, or was the PC version only ever this classic remastered?

The seas continue to rise while the lesser moon continues to fall, and ilm by ilm, the world becomes ever more unlike itself, without the illumination of knowledge, we but vainly flail as specters in the dark.
