Not a really big one I think I made it kinda too long... But it just.. got under my skin and since we have a venting thread. Here I am!

Trail Roulette sent me to Dancing Plague which instantly had me a little itchy since I've had some pretty bad runs in here, and have read about some terrible runs in this thread.
The gate instantly goes down and no bonus message goes up. Good right? ...Eh...

Me on GNB my co-tank/MT is PLD. Got two ASTs. DRG,MNK,BRD and a RDM for heals and DPS.
Mostly for the first phase it was uneventful. Someone takes a hit here. Vul stack over there. Nothing substantial .

Add phase starts I grab my add in the west, and watch as... DPS are kinda everywhere which, no big deal. But second part might start some issues if they did that. So I quietly just throw a 3 on my add and a 1 over on Mustard which surprisingly does the trick and all the dps quickly pull back over to Mustard and kill him before they go down the line and finish the other two.

“Bigger is better!” ...Yeah. no.. it isn't. The moment they become target-able I hear the LB go off
its the RDM hitting all three of them. Which at FIRST I was happy about.. But its RDM.. AOES are now going out.. The floor is covered with the giant rune.. Nooot such a good idea anymore.. In the crazy of that the RDM and the BRD are now dead with a small message from the BRD pointing out they couldn't see. Yup sounds bout right. No biggy, some scrambling later all the adds are down. Gauge is over 90. and somehow one of the AST are the only ones dead.

Everyone standing in the middle waiting for her big attack. Most of the parties HP is rather... lacking for a big hit. But we have a heal up right?.. Right...? Uh...No heals... Absolutely no shields from our Noct AST.. instead they are slow rezing the dead one (This is me not reminding anyone we have a RDM in the party..)... My eyebrow twitches a bit when I watch the PLD Clem the BRD to get their hp at least ABOVE 50%. Ulti hits THE BRDS ALIVE! barely.. wait someone's dead... The Noct Ast... Uh... I won't say anything... Not gonna say anything.. Nope.. Not gonna-...Yeah I am.. I point out they maybe should have healed first.. then rezed.. No reply.

We finish her without any more hiccups. “GG” “GGWP” all round.. except for the AST.. who decides to point out that “Because I'm on an easy to play class. I shouldn't comment” ….Wut...? What does my class choice have anything to do with your bad choice making... that even got you KILLED to prove that point.. Before I could really say anything but “Sure” they were obviously gone. Leaving me dumbfounded before I pop onto WHM and queue into Alliance like every other day...

I was in Labyrinth of the Ancients again (for like the 7th day in a row) for my alliance raid roulette and while things generally went fine -- though we were close to wiping a few times -- in the Thanatos fight B's pot almost died because somehow no one was paying attention to it. I haven't seen that since like 2014, so I commented on it. I think all I said was "Our pot needs to be healed" or something like that, and naturally everyone got offended. The healer in my alliance (not sure why they were so mad) said "ok boomer" at me and told me to stop typing and start DPSing (I don't know about them, but it's not hard to do both, unless they had a parser and could see my DPS was lacking ). I said I didn't even think they knew what that meant, and also I'm 27 so I'm not a boomer. I'm not even gen X lmao. Then they felt the need to tell me they're 50? If they actually were they weren't setting a very good example.

Then when we were going into the Bomb fight, after we started I noticed them just standing at the entrance. After about 20 seconds they spit out a chunk of text in the chat and then ran up. I can't even remember what they said now, all I can remember is resisting the urge to tell them to stop typing and start DPSing. At least I could be in the fight and doing something other than literally nothing while I was typing.

So that was interesting, but I'm still stuck on the pot almost dying. I don't really pay much attention to what happens to B's pot since I'm almost always in C these days, but I've never seen it reach anywhere below like 75% HP. It's sad that there's players that don't even know mechanics (mostly because of poor ilevel scaling) and can almost potentially wipe. I can't even blame it entirely on that one healer because our other one did nothing either.

I rarely encounter major issues in a roulette and I do at least a couple on a near daily basis. That has been the case both during my time on Crystal and my time on Chaos. It does appear that some players serve as a magnet to unpleasant situations, though! Or perhaps I am simply lucky? Are such situations truly so widespread?

Widespread? Probably not. Random people are gonna be random. But you are probably lucky to some degree. I have more good encounters with others more often than not, but...there is that small percent that seems to be always present and poised to test one's limits at a moment's notice. Usually when you say "Alright, time for a quick roulette!"

didnt happen to me but a couple of fc mates had this happen and talked about it in fc

So they do leveling R in hopes to not get the first SBH dungeon, it was a tank/healer combo. tank was iirc a pld and healer was ast, they end up getting the dungeon anyway.
Other team mates is ninja and rdm. So pld pulls the first group, rdm took it upon themselves to run forward pull more, the tank said to the rdm they tanking that and healer didnt heal them. they died and said oh god, a slow run im out. and leaves to eat a 30. the ninja backup the tank/healer saying that was pretty toxic. tank/healer apologized saying they tried pulling big in a run before but healer couldnt keep up. And the tank doesnt tank often.

they tried saying the before pull but rdm was antsy. they got a replacement and did the run pretty fast. less then 30 min that for sure.

I get this is a vent thread, but I am confused as to what is being vented here? By some standards not picking up thd mobs snd purposely letting someone die is far more "toxic" imo. They easily could have pulled the mobs off the rdm after the pull explained theif position and at that point if the rdm did not leave then they could have either voted to remove them or something.

I get they tried to ssy something before hand, but what gets me if they hsd time to convey thst the rdm will tank that and he will not get healed. They hsd the time to get the mobs off the rdm.

This petty going to teach them a lesson people try to justify is silly.

Eh, it depends. I will put up with a lot as a tank, even with someone pulling for me so long as it isn't excessive. A healer doing it is a bit more tolerable than a dps, because it's usually a confidence thing. A dps though? I will typically ask them to let me pull. If they continue to pull for me, I will let them keep what they have until they are on the brink of collapse and THEN take them. It usually gets the point across while not actually letting anyone die. Thankfully I don't see this very often.

I used to be one of those people who said "you pull it you tank it" and did not hesitate to let them drop like a dang rock. But there are better ways to handle it. My method applies some of the same logic but without the mess.

Giving them a scare is fun, and understandable. I have done that, but yeah idk purposely letting someone die just does not sit right. Even if the tank did not want to help the healer could have tossed them a few heals to keep the rdm alive, and the ninja could hsve helped. Thdn everything could hsve been explained after the pull.
