Sick of ARR Ex fights in mentor roulette

Hi, I’m a mentor and do roughly 10 mentor roulettes per day and more on a weekend. I’m happy to join a party in progress though that usually means joining groups that are struggling. I main WHM. I have no problem with 95% of the content I do as a mentor and am always willing to explain mechanics, offer help and have even crafted gear for under geared players free of charge. But what I am so so tired of is doing ARR ex mode fights. They come up at least 3 times a day for me and always, always suck my will to live right out. Please dear god people either do these in party finder if you want the challenge or ask your FC to do them unsynched. This is OLD OPTIONAL content. I would rather be helping people through story or even msq roulette than wasting so much time on this crap. *Sigh*

You're a mentor. You're there to mentor. So mentor.

It's not there for you to just do another daily. It's to help people.

Learn the fights or don't. Another mentor might have the knowledge you don't. Perhaps they could help. That's what it's there for.

Hi. I didn’t say I don’t know the fights. I do. I didn’t say I don’t help out. I do. I just spent the entire timer on Titan EX trying to get a team through. No salt only encouragement and reiteration of the mechanics with the occasional helpful tip. What I do want to know is why is 6 year old optional content that has no bearing on the story or progression of the game even in mentor roulette? Why as a mentor must I suffer when my time would actually be better served helping people progress through the story or level their characters. This content can be both done better synched in party finder where all members are prepared for the long run or unsynched easily even soloed.

Srsly? To me its the only fun part in doing mentor rlt, between 30% dungeons , 30% guildhests , 35% trials, the 5% of the ex is what makes me not peel off my skin out of boredom. I can do amaurot so many times before contemplating my own life choices , and ofc it usually is with a new tank or heal so single pulls. I thought hey guildhests can break the monotony but nope =.= they became pretty monotonous despite taking 4 mins, fck me i found out that i can kill adds with garuda and her spells on the goblin one before we break the barriers, and even 8mans have turned tedious , i learned that ravanna ex is actually easier and faster than the normal version so everytime i got normal i was dieing inside.



but besides my own personal opinion the biggest pro in OLD OPTIONAL content is that people actually learn, its honestly the only reason that i havent completely given up on this community. there are quite a few new players willing to learn, i cant stress enough of it , NEW PLAYERS that arent rushing and instead take time to develop their skills, do you know how many times i see old players just giving no shit , or some new players that simply skipped with a potion, ive seen enough crap in mentor rlt to be happy for those new players , they are my glimmer of hope that this game wont turn into candy crash to accommodate people who dont give a shit yet still want what others who put effort have.



The only ex i wish wasnt in the mentor rlt is rathalos ex. not that i cant clear it , i clear it 9 times out of 10 , but it doesnt teach anything , its annoying to deal cause it is rng who it will aggro and most of the time its cause someone is farming it and forgot pf exists.

Because what's old to you is new to them.

If you really think it as suffering then you probably shouldn't be a mentor.

I do however detest spending 60-90 minutes 3 times a day desperately trying to carry players through optional content that has no bearing on either the story or their progression when my time as a mentor could be better spent. Especially when said content can be completed 3 other ways with willing participants who aren’t randomly thrown into it because no one else in their right mind duty finders this crap. Why just because I don’t like doing this particular section of content (but I still do it with patience and respect) should I not be a mentor?

If you detest spending 60-90 minutes 3 times a day....why do you keep running the roulette then???

We all know ARR wasn’t exactly compelling and I want new players to have good experiences so they stick around. Secondly I run it because most of the time it is fun, I meet lots of lovely people and can feel useful. I simply don’t see how being pulled into ARR ex mode constantly and unwillingly achieves anything other than what I see on a daily basis and that is people joining and then leaving straight away because they know this content is hellish an boring and frustrating and above all unnecessary for the progression of the game

I'm glad you enjoy helping people but you need to STOP putting your personal feelings into the fights you end up getting.

It's not unwilling to the players who chose them willingly.

It's not boring to the players who are playing it for the first time.

It's not hellish for the players who decides to que up for the fight for the first time.

It's not about you.

ARR EX trials and the inability of people doing them through dungeon finder to have any idea of how to spread out, not spread out, move away from asploding things, or pay attention for more than 30 seconds is why I dont bother with mentor roulette.

If you cant grasp "move out of the giant telegraphed line ae" after an attempt or two, you arent worth the time.
