So in the event that I be furloughed again, or worse still I no longer have a job because where I work shuts down (unlikely since I work in a grocery store, so we are essential, but stay with me for the sake of this hypothetical), and I can't find a job because the only industries that are still open have to operate in a reduced capacity to contain this modern day plague, and I have to choose between warding off starvation or playing with a toy, I should lose my house through no fault of my own?

I was actually content with my apartment and didn't have any plans to get a house until a series of lucky strokes resulted in me getting one. What's funny about your particular attitude is that, because you can't get a house, you believe that others should have theirs taken away for your own sake.

You're not any more welcome to a house than any other player is, regardless of what you were told when you were young or how you presently feel.

It's kinda a "suffer like I did/do" situation. They can't get a house, so they think no one else should until they do.
