If you can't tank as a black mage what are you even doing
If you can't tank as a black mage what are you even doing
Reminds me of this one time a healer got snippy with me during the Sabotender Emperatriz boss of Qarn Hard. One of the adds that spawns during the fight will fixate on the healer and smack them until it dies, ignoring everyone else no matter what they do. Couldn't explain this to that person though. It was like I was intentionally ignoring that one add but tanking all the others and the boss just to irritate them. They should have been annoyed at the dps that didn't want to kill it.
Bless you. Been there.I think this was the most eventful dungeon run I've ever been in. I queued for Holminster, since I'm trying to level up AST at level 72. I say hello, so does bard. Bard says she is new, so I ask if she would like an explanation of the fights. She agrees. Tank has said nothing this whole time. He pulls single packs, which was fine, gave me more dpsing time. So far, the dancer has said nothing.
When we get to the first boss, I mention there are a lot of aoes, which are pretty easy to dodge. Dancer dies to said aoes maybe 4 or 5 times? Bard doesn't die, but does take some damage from aoes.
Second boss, Dancer tries to stack with people, when the boss is casting Fevered Flagellation, and runs away from the actual stack marker attack. Dies maybe 3 times. Oh, did I mention, Dancer did not partner anyone at all?
Last boss, I tried to explain the myriad deathtraps that awaited us, but tank always pulls before I finish typing, even when I am outside of the entrance, because I am typing. I figure, okay, I explained half of the mechanics, maybe they'll learn as they go. Because it seems tank also does not know the mechanics. Everytime Philia casts Pendulum, tank runs toward the rest of us, or the center. At one point he had 346 health, because of this. Luckily, Essential Dignity wasn't on cooldown at the time, or that could've been wipe 1. The, the Bard gets chained. I'm the only one attacking chains, so I rescued the Bard out before she died. I manage to keep everyone alive, until the spinning aoe of death, that I don't know the name of. And that was wipe one. Wipe 2, DNC was already dead and had the Brink of Death debuff. The tank and BRD stood on wrong side of Right and Left Knout, so they both died. On our third try, I try to explain more in depth, because it's been 30 minutes and I am exhausted. This time, we barely squeak by. At one point, both dps are dead and I pick up BRD because she isn't weaknessed, unlike DNC. While I waited for my next Swiftcast, DNC stayed dead. Time for the spinning aoe of death. I see BRD standing in the place the aoe is, so I use rescue. It worked, and both BRD and tank followed me. No one died from that, so I breathed a sigh of relief. A long while later, the boss is low health, so BRD LBs. Finally, the dungeon run from Hell was over. I told BRD to enjoy Shadowbringers, gave her my comm, and promptly left the dungeon and logged out.
Only suggestion I can give is that if you know the tank is rushy, start explaining the next boss's mechanics during the pulls. If the tank pulls light, you should have plenty of time to do so.
Leveling my non-maxed tanks, had some chuckles.
Even though it's a bit mean, I can't help but be amused when I see people running off to die alone just before Xande casts Quake in CT... and they aren't always new players, either. Managed to save a few, others weren't so fortunate. Still funny.
Got Ramuh, and the sprout NIN kept standing with the MT. They took so much damage/died so many times, one of the healers finally snapped and yelled at them to stop standing in front. NIN replied with "Thought that was his back not going to lie...." MT ended up dying somehow while the adds were still up, so I took over. Guess what the NIN kept doing? XD
The Chrysalis. Two sprouts, so I remind everyone before we start to save LB for the tear, and that tanks need to be under meteors, no one else. Even so, (sprouts or not) in any given run, this still ends up being 50/50 as to whether we wipe or not... well, we wiped. Rez, and we down him. It's even more hilarious when they're no sprouts or returners in the party.
SAM isn't 80 yet, but while still sub-71 I got Ala Mhigo in roulette. We get to Zenos, and somehow the healer(sprout, as I recall) and other dps died, so it was just me and the DRK for a bit before I finally ate dirt (Bloodbath on CD) and the lone DRK had to finish the boss off. Everyone had a good laugh at that ending.
On the topic of MTing alliance roulette, though... my thoughts haven't changed. I want that exp, but I dread the stupid tank wars. For that reason I will continue to run with stance off unless absolutely needed. It's just frustrating otherwise.
I've giving up on tanking alliances. I just won't do it anymore. It didn't happen often, but man, I got so tired of other tanks playing "BIG BOy" tank, provoking bosses off of me, even though they never pulled and stood at the gate like a turd on a log.
Or even better, provoking my add off of me or tanking the wrong add and refusing to let go.
This sentence right here.
I just finished running a Copied Factory, and had one of my healers tell me to turn tank stance on during Hobbs. Not like it would make a difference, as long as I don't drop dead, nobody in the alliance will be hit by any of his auto attacks. I only turn it on in three spots during that raid, unless the MT dies. The adds right before Hobbs(though I will still participate in an aggro war), the adds during Engles, and the adds during 9-S. I know when I need to throw it on, and when it's definitely not needed.
