While I do think the restoration fates could have been done better, you're really not missing much.
It's 5 minutes of doing relays across a part of the map, then you get 500 scripts.

You say you missed out on seeing the progress increase as you submit collectables but:
    A. You never noticed your own personal contribution anyway, as so many people are doing it.
    B. The alternative is you don't see any progress...

So basically, you want everyone to miss out on a server-wide collective endeavour... because you missed out on it?

    I agree with you OP.

I was disappointed with Isghrad restoration. Honestly in the end its not much different from Rowenas turn in, just with some fates inbetween and some cutscenes. (The quest afterwards were nice though) In the end people that will come late will never be able to truly do it unlike the one for Doma. It just feels strange to have put in that work only for it to be for people that were currently there. Heck they could have made both if they wanted it for housing. Have one part being only a server wide effort which then unlocks housing for everyone later and then have a much bigger part for each player which they can progress on their own which would include their own versions of the fate.

I also want to have a talk with the person who decided on the numbers for the achivement..the one for the mount is not really fun and is also not healthy..honestly thats F2P grinding right there..can we please have some balanced achivements back that wont take months of mindless grinding to get?

I didnt say that. I wanted something that was superficial for people to work on like the last crafting beast tribes had. Working on a namazu festival type of questline would have been perfect. Just add it along with the current iteration. And when it comes to the fates i think they should have more fates throughout a set time so more people can participate

The actual restoration lasted a very long time, several months. If it weren't for the delay for the next patch, the gap between restoration phases would be smaller than the phases themselves.
And there are also story quests involved, which are also pretty lengthy.

The game needs more things which every player won't have not less.

Leaving aside that not everything is going to be available forever (as much as I might sometimes wish otherwise, because of things like the Rainmaker hairstyle that I missed getting while I wasn't playing), I suspect the logic behind the Ishgard restoration was more along the lines of "We should add a new housing zone." followed by "Hey, maybe we could have the players build it." as opposed to "Hey, we should have the players build something." followed by "What about a new housing zone?"

The difference is actually relevant; the focus being "add a new housing zone" means you want to have, at the end, a housing zone. Something where people can come to visit their friends, etc., rather than something like the Doman enclave where it's separately instanced and you can't access the same resources/see the same things as others.

And if you sort of 'phased' it for people, a'la the Doman reconstruction, the fact that it is a housing zone raises other questions. Say your FC buys a house in that housing zone. Is the Firmament phased individually, and if you haven't progressed the Ishgardian restoration to the point that the area your FC house is in you just can't visit the house? That'd probably be unpopular with people who don't want to do crafter/gatherer content just to be able to get to their FC house. Is the Firmament phased based on FC state, and by having a house there it advances the restoration to that state for everyone in the FC? That'd probably be unpopular with people who actually wanted to do the reconstruction for themselves, that they'd now been denied that by virtue of the fact that someone else in their FC did it.

I actually agree that it would be nice to have some sort of persistent restoration content in the long run—and I wouldn't be surprised if there is something in the end, because I can't imagine the DoL Diadem going away again so quickly—but I think it's important we remember that the dev team likely approached this content as "hey, since we're adding a housing zone, what about some crafter/gatherer content to unlock that instead of just dropping the zone in all at once?" as opposed to "hey, let's do some crafter/gatherer content... what about rebuilding part of Ishgard?"

It's all so "meh" to me. Just another collectible turn-in system, for yet another currency.

I am not sure how I got the impression that the FATEs were going to involve gatherers and artisans working together.

When I first came to the firmament, and saw the bar filling up; I thought it was because the gatherers were out there acquiring the resources needed for the next FATE. I thought the FATEs themselves would involve actual crafting and turning that stuff in. Wherein instead of having an infinite amount of time to complete a recipe, you would get the time of the FATE to turn in as much as possible, at the highest collectability you can get those items to. I thought the rankings would be based similar to outside FATEs, wherein your contribution during the FATE is how you get ranked.

Alas, no. Just another mind-numbing turn-in system with the highest seasonal rankings going to those who can automate themselves. Admittedly, I do have a tendency to let my own thoughts carry themselves out of context. I also got really excited and told my FC mates that we were going to be able to fly like Marry Poppins with the introduction of the parasols.

I think I spend far too much time with the Pixies.

I still half want to make a giant Roegadyn male alt named "Merry Poppings", create an FC with a tag of "Y'all", and just wander around with a parasol.

If nothing else, the restoration brought me that mental image.

They at least could have made it so that the FATEs still happen, so even if the overall progress is already finished, new people can still participate in all the content. If they still accept contributions, why not have FATEs as well?

That would have been a nice thought to add. I really wish they would involve the playerbase more in this event. It cant be that hard to turn the fates on again or to make another crafting season. That should be very basic dev work.
