I always try to pick a spot with none of that, thoguh to be honest I haven't been in a party that ran out of forniture for months even when burning one or two by accident.
The way ive always seen it done is the first person just angles the cone away from all furniture and once the cone aoe disappears the second target moves to the position the fist target was at that way the cone and boss dont move although with casters that way doesnt work so you have to adjust to a kinda half circle near the front of the boss kinda difficult to get done perfectly but you can.

Sounds like something similar to Fractal Contiuum. You can actually run out of mobs for the boss to eat if the DPS is bad enough, so nothing can stop 10k swing.

The final boss in Cosmos is the only one from all ShB dungeon bosses that comes to mind where you can actually wipe due to failing the mechanic. You get another around of furniture dropping from the ceiling but if you blow them up with the red marker, you can start your floor tank countdown when the next round of mortal flames hits and the party inevitably wipes.
Academia, Twinning and Anamnesis bosses take forever with exceptionally bad dps and you can blow someone with low HP up but there is no hard-wipe mechanic that's a guaranteed wipe if you fail it. And I'm not 100% certain about the last boss in Amaurot but afair he doesn't jump/ Apokalypse again once he reached the edge and all platforms on the side fell down. And tanks survive the explosion birdie if it finishes the cast so it's still a kill.

You can stun the Minotaur just before he would do the "shout" mechanic, and thus skip the add part. You need to keep an eye out for the Dash or Swing mechanic (forgot the actual order in which the mechanics occur), which he usually does before it. If you can stun that, the "shout" won't happen and with it no add will break free.

Or was it that you can skip the dash that happens after the add? /think I should run that dungeon again. lol

I’ve been in a few groups that nearly wiped on the first boss of Twinning because people stand in front of the tanks and break out the monsters in them during the boss mechanic. We end up with multiple mobs running around with the boss and it’s a lot of damage for the tank to be soaking up even if they’re geared. It’s one of the few bosses where you really do have to tell the newcomers what to do, or you could conceivably wipe.

That's a completely different case, though. It's still theoretically possible to heal through it while downing the adds. After hitting 80 on WHM I had a couple of runs where every add was broken out and it's managable. Difficult, but managable. At least we didn't have to pay attention to positioning once every add was out... it's something, right?
If you have 0 furniture left when mortal flame hits, it's a wipe. Period. No way to heal through that. That's why I was talking about a hard wipe mechanic.
You can always wipe if shit hits the fan but those are never guaranteed wipes because good players can salvage the situation. But as far as I'm aware, Cosmos last boss is really the only encounter like this.
It's refreshing to have at least one boss like this though managing to blow up every piece of furniture is certainly a feat. Still, would like to have more bosses like that.

Oh I will try that out when it comes back up in DF lol.

Aright, I will call this Dohn Mheg: Savage because from the WHM's point of view, it was that. I died to the second double pull. Well no big deal, the death had the benefit of resetting all the stuff I needed to make it possible (I didn't have Nebula after Superbolide ended).

    First boss.
<skips everything that is irrelevant to this fight except the geyser mechanic>

She couldn't handle this mechanic at all. First 2 wipes, she was going to give up and wanted to leave, and one of the DPS got a bit upset with that. I told her to just follow me, since all you gotta do is run to the shallow geysers. I didn't account for my own reaction time when it's time to move to the next one though and she couldn't keep up with me. 3rd wipe we're all offering suggestions to her. She wasn't a bad healer so yeah. I told her that if she thinks she can't do it, then try to outpace the damage with her heals/regen. The DPS and I were handling mechanic fine, she really only needed to focus on herself. I figured with all that healing power, she should be ok. Well she wasn't regening herself, so I tossed HoS to her and applied Aurora to her as much as I could, this was some crazy multitasking. We got through that and it helped that she did avoid some of the big geysers, but each time after the 3rd wipe, just one more and she would've died again.

Tree Dog Boss. Just one hiccup from the healer here(didn't break the line once)

It's all smooth sailing from here to the end, but I'm sure she was demoralized from the first boss, hope that comm I gave her cheered her up a bit.

Thanks to the irregular tomestones I've been running Castrum Meridianum fairly frequently and that is the only dungeon when I often join only to have multiple people drop out immediately. Or join a party in progress that is standing around waiting at the very start. Sure, it's a kind of a long one, but taking a 30 minute penalty to avoid a 30 minute dungeon seems nuts.

In any case, one time there were 4 of us DPS twiddling our thumbs, so we decided to just see how far we could get before a tank or healer showed up. We were part way through the first boss & doing well when a healer joined. I think we got to full strength just as we were about to start the last fight.

If I played Tank and wanted irregular tomestones, I'd ALWAYS join party in progress & pick that one, since you've got a good chance of getting a party already past the at least one boss fight.

Did they change it for this time around? I know that before if you joined in progress you didn't get any of the irregular tomestones.
