At one point, we will go to Old Sharlayan because too many main NPC are related to it.now that i'm able to post again (i didnt know there was a daily limit, that's weird), that npc was: sadly part of "in it's own world" non-canon content (per yoshi-p), not a mortal (effectively a MASSIVE battery), and suffered horrible consequences for it's use.
(he's also my current and eternal minion, since his original game is my fave and he's my favorite character therein)
Gigi has been fabricated by Kwane (a Time Mage ?) from Old Sharlayan.
So, everything is possible (with the fact that more and more non-canon contents has become canon since ShB)
I mean, given we have Amaurot to work with, I could see some sort of handwaving lost secret Time Magic lore we can use because we are the WoL or some such. It's really not much different from how Summoner currently is.
I honestly won't be surprised if we enter Sharlayan in 6.0 considering Garlemald is currently in a sea of fire due to Civil War. Garlean Empire is basically almost gone at this point due to internal conflict.
Weapon Saga side of the war for Garlean Empire is to end the conflict with Ala Mhigo quickly using the Weapons so that the Garlean Empire won't have to worry about a 3rd/4th faction (being the Alliance) getting involved in the Civil War.
Resistance Saga is basically just a 3rd Faction of Garlean Empire, lead by Gabranth, seeking to obtain a new weapon for themselves to win the Civil War while the Resistance focus on rebuilding their legendary weapons.
In the end, Garlean Empire is basically dead by internal conflict at this point and we're just dealing with stragglers trying to keep what is left of the Garlean Empire together even if it is in millions of pieces.
thus is probably how Sharlayan fits into this since with the Garlean Empire basically fallen they may see this as a opportunity for their own benefits considering we know from current lore that Sharlayan does questionable things just as the Garleans have but in more incognito ways compared to the Garleans who are more open about it.
That or the Alliance and/or Scion may see this as a opportunity to convience Sharlayan to end their isolation policy and open up to the world now that the Garlean Empire is no longer a threat.

Sharlayan focus would certainly make sense if we get two DoM jobs which is what we currently look to be getting.

Multiple pages ago there was a lot of talk about the naming of what chemist would be or if it would be that theme, but one thing I haven’t seen much talk about is how the leader of the Bozjan Resistance is a Garlean Battle Medic. We now have a prominent story figure with a type of healing we up until now had no access to. I’m surprised there hasn’t been much talk about it on the forums, but it is hidden behind some dialogue along with the npc next to him talking about how Gabranth is a powerful Beastmaster.
Add to Jobs I will like to see is a Modern Assassin Job (aka sword/gun job that utilize sword and a gun for assassination attacks)

I don't think "Modern Assassin" would be a name they would use. Perhaps "Agent" or better yet dust off the old "Musketeer" hall in Limsa Lominsa and repurpose that old idea. If they want to continue building the Ivalice FFXIV setting they could make this type of Job the XIV universe equivalent of a "Riskbreaker" too.
Though I think this might be a hard-sell, because I can't think of any FF characters wielding a gun and sword in tandem (they seem to like making those one weapon), but it would be cool to have a job that is sort of a non-casting Anti-Red Mage, with perhaps a focus on sword swings leading into shots from a handgun. It would also be a good Job to use scouting gear for, which so far Ninja has all to itself.

I keep seeing this 'Modern Assassin' thing popping up.
It's not going to happen.
It has no basis in any FF lore. 14 or otherwise.
It uses weapons already used by other jobs.
It even combines two of those weapons together, which is something we already have anyway (Gunblade)
I don't think there is any issue with the job conceptually. But as Seraphor said it's not really based on anything you can point at in FF. I could see a dual wielding pistol wielder perhaps, but not a sword and gun. And too many melee DPS again is the biggest issue, when there are likely others to add if they even add any more.
