If it's savage, honestly, unless you have a static it strikes me that it can be hard to improve; if you're interested in doing them, find a group of like-minded souls who are also fairly new to the savage world and give it a try. A static like that might not last forever, but it would give everyone a chance to try to learn and improve without having to be at the whims of party finder (and the impatience of strangers); if everyone is new to it and learning, folks are probably more patient with each other as they learn. I'm new to savage raiding and while I'm not still not what I'd call great, I've been learning alongside friends which has helped a lot.

And honestly, a lot of raiding comes down to knowing the mechanics rather than how quickly you can react to them. (I mean, unless you're at the optimization phase of fighting, where as certain jobs you're trying to move as little as possible and react at the last possible instant to anything.)

If it's normal mode... the only way to get better there is also practice, but setting up a standing practice party like a static is probably overkill. But even just reaching out to folks in your FC (or other friends/connections) and seeing if they're willing to help you go through the fights a couple of times for the weekly tokens; after you've been through them a few times, you'll find the mechanics generally become easier. And doing things like running Copied Factory or something repeatedly is a great way to get practice on responding to mechanics in general while still having your full level 80 toolkit to work with.

While not wanting to be dead weight is a good thing... well, you say you want to help others, and you're not alone in that; I suspect there are others out there who'd be happy to help you practice and improve with those fights as well.

(All this assumes you actually want to keep trying Eden, of course. If not, please disregard post!)
I want to take this chance to say thank you! To this post, and all other kind posts that responded to this story. I do want to try and get through Eden eventually. I am currently stuck on Iconclasm. But instead of going in with the Duty Finder, I may see about getting my own party together. More than that, I need to look over my rotation (for context, I am RDM) to see what I can improve. I appreciate I have this thread that I can talk about these issues!

weird... i had no issue with large pulls at 15+ a fc mate tanked for me in my first 3 dungeons and large pulled each one. I told them to pull as they normally would, as i didnt want to be babied, so i can learn what to expect, and outside squishy tanks havent had too much of an issue.

MT Gulg leveling roulette as a SCH, was looking to get some free Materias. I look at the tank, Lvl.80 WAR with full 490 tome gear plus the Relic. Nice, it's gonna be a quick one right? Nope, tank proceeds to do single pulls. I sigh irl but say nothing else.
Since I got almost nothing to heal I'm literally full Art of War mode. Pack didn't die fast, I'm probably outdpsing the whole group, but nothing out of the ordinary since I'm fairly geared myself.

Second pull, one of them accidentally stepped too close to the breakable rocks and attracked three extra mobs. Maybe that will be enough to incentivize the tank, hopefully... who knows. But they go back to pulling single packs afterwards, and there are a lot of single packs on the first section of MT Gulg.

First boss, it's AoE eating festival. I had to rescue the Nin because they were eating literally every single explosion and even though they had 3 stacks I managed to keep them alive. Tank and the other DPS all had stacks too, but so far just your average pug group.

Next pull, small again. Instead of pulling those 4 wolves to the big wall head, tank stops. Literally nothing to heal again. At this point I'm just bored of pressing Art of War over and over again and I /sit on the side to take a screenshot. My fairy was literally enough to heal the tank at this point. Except that one time I stopped Art of War'ing the tank decided to man up and start talking. Here's how our little conversation went.

As you can see I asked the party to roll on loot so I could vote dismiss the harassing tank, I have zero tolerance for this sort of attitude. Except in this case they were all together and obviously refused to do so.
Anyway, I took my leave after one final, and much deserved, comment on the tank's proficiency with the job since they were so adamant to point out how I shouldn't have emoted during a trash pull. Even though no one was even close to dying, nor had died until that point, and I my DPS contribution wasn't bad either. Ignorance sure is blessing, but can also be a curse sometimes.

im going to be honest.. you was the issue in that run. You could have asked to large pull at any point instead of being passive aggressive. I do not blame the group at all for calling you out. You was needlessly rude.

And to be honest, as soon as you start cursing at someone like that, you already lost all reason you had to begin with.
you didnt show any cursing.... just you being passive aggressive. I mean it is in the chat logs... you started it.

    "?????????????????????" is the cursing.

This could have been handled in many different directions. The cursing was unnecessary. I suggest you reread the posters original post. I don't agree with the sitting, but let's not pretend that the other members are purely innocent here.

So, playing again after taking a break for about 2 months, and I don't always remember every little thing upon returning. Refulgence as DNC, derped more than I'd like, but 2 deaths weren't even my fault.

The part where the boss marks each player with one of two aoes? First time, I got the triangle one, so I run to the edge... and another player stacks with me, and we both die. Second time the boss did it, I got marked with the circle aoe, so I sit in the center, mindful that I'm not stacking it on top of another player with the same aoe... and someone with the trangle aoe sits close to me, so I die (and I was the only one, too) Think it was the same person...

Third death was on me. Hit En Avant twice to get out of an aoe when I meant to hit it once, and I zoomed off the edge. Well, figured I was due, since I had yet to do that ever if I recall correctly, so eh... rite of passage?

Get to the phase with the circles you need to stand in. Get marked with the aoe, so I try to position in such a way that I don't hit anyone with it (easier said than done >>). Afterward, I run back into the boss, and immediately die to... something. Still not sure what it was, but blargh.

So, technically 2 deaths were my fault (still foggy about the forth...) but not a peep from my killers earlier. Thanks, I suppose. Looked even trashier than I was, hurrah!

EDIT: Forgot that first death was a wipe. Besides myself and the person who stacked on me, a few others died (doing the same, I suppose) so the party decided the restart.

Had a long and terrible Dohn Mheg run. Healer was great, the DPS though.. {Not sure what's going on here.} She wanted big pulls and I did them for the first half, but I decided no more for the second half because they took so so long to die

    Remaining time was 50 minutes.

Half the healers in this game sit and do nothing anyway. I'm surprised anybody would actually notice.

I emoted in a dungeon for a screenshot that took a couple seconds to take when nothing important was happening, care to explain how was I the problem in that run?

If you find the mechanics of a fight difficult, the only ways to fix that are to practice the fight—and maybe watch a strategy video or two. If the mechanics aren't the problem and its optimizing your rotation (as your post suggests)...

While it's not so useful to a healer or tank (though not useless, either), if you're RDM then I highly recommend using the Stone, Sea, Sky training dummies; there's a test setting for generic Eden normal, and individual ones for each of the savage modes. I raid as a healer, but I have used the Stone, Sea, Sky trial to tune my own rotation for RDM in general.

E6S has a particularly brutal DPS check in comparison to some of the others, so if you can pass the test for that one chances are you have at least a solid, workable rotation; I know that working on my rotation there has helped me be a much more effective RDM overall, just based on how quickly things die in other level 80 content now. And little changes can really add up; working to make the Swiftcast use to fish for Verfire/Verstone procs second nature rather than something I had to think about did wonders for my DPS efficiency, far moreso than I expected.

But beyond that? Run level 80 content whenever you can. Expert roulette, level 80 roulette, Copied Factory... the Stone, Sea, Sky trial dummies are great for optimizing a rotation, but real content—even if it's not Eden—will help you apply that rotation in actual combat once you've tuned it.

I'd also recommend the Balance; it's a website devoted to optimizing things for high-end content—gear sets, materia melds, rotations, etc.—and there's an excellent Discord they run where you can find lots of excellent advice.

Beyond that, good luck... and have fun with it! That's why we're here, after all.
