Just got out of an extra long dungeon. I apparently pulled too big for the healer. I said in chat we were both at fault, I used my superbolide too late - it didn't activate until after I died (animation went off). However, healer couldn't handle the fact he was at fault too and left after some words. I counted him wasting CDs multiple times - and I know white mage CDs.. all I'm saying.

I don't mind healers going about and grabbing extra mobs and bringing it to me, if you wanna be a curebot then so be it, I don't out gear the dungeon though like these i500 people lol I've been put into DF with today, like the run I just /quit from. I'm just i267.

I do mind healers running off and then proceeding to rescue me into more mobs. This happened in Bardem's Mettle. It only took one time for me to pull the first group into the other to know my body can't handle it. Mr healer though had something to say about that as he sprints past me and then follows it up with rescue. Sure we got through that pull, but he heal botted it. Had he kept going and just brought them to me, or you know, spoke up, it'd be fine. Rescue-force-me-into-bigger-pulls = I will leave.

I then trotted my way like little happy Shirley Temple(bless her heart) to a nearby fate and laid waste to an Alpha Anole whilst whistling Lassie's theme song.

Don't rescue-force me. You can do anything else.
Oh man. that is super egregious. Never seen or heard of anybody doing that. I wonder if you could report them, that's going next level forcing a playstyle. Crazy.

Speaking of Superblowup. Oh it has to do the flashy bits, then the big sparkly octagon/hexagonal sphere thing, then the actual "I'm a real BA" animation, then comes the actual effect! Gotta shake, rattle, twirl and swirl that thing first and I mean before you stop(basically before all mobs really start beating on you like a freshly bought drum). At least that's what I figured out with it.

    I didn't report, don't know if that's reportable.

So earlier this morning I decided to throw myself into roulette as whm because I still f*cking hate myself. Get Darkhold. Rest of party comp was PLD DRG MCH.

DRG was pretty much entirely new to the instance and 14 in general, as I did not hear a single Doom Spike go off. That's fine, sprouts learn.

MCH knew the limits of their rotation and would aoe their hearts out, god bless them.

Then I get this gem of a PLD tank:

-Only uses Rampart, Fight of Flight, Shelltron, and Sentinel; strangely enough no Reprisal or Arm's Length. Said mentioned cooldowns are also sparsely used.
-Only uses Shield Lob and Total Eclipse, but strangely enough not Prominence wombo-combo for aggro and dps contribution i.e. Shield Lob then TE once or twice, then immediately into single target.
-Had war 71 and gnb at 80, so they at least should have known the basics of tanking.

First hallway was relatively alright, the blue light hid the fact that the tank's gear was something I should have checked at the start. It wasn't until we got past the first boss and they started to tank I notice that I'm having to cast Cure 2 outright to save the tank's squishy butt. Then once that first toad and ghost was down, I then realize things were going to take a massive nose dive when the tank decided to pull larger. I had to space out my Holy spam because every other cast I had to immediately cast Cure 2 so he wouldn't eat dirt. It wasn't until after we nearly wiped when I checked his gear:

    https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../cloth_pld.png

#WeNeed2TalkGearingUp, screenshot from lodestone page shows him at 43, but he still had the same gear on when we entered the dungeon.

I then tell the tank that tights are not armor, and once they were out of the dungeon to go update their gear. Their response was along the lines of 'I'm sorry, I'm leveling so fast.' That's nice hun.

Second boss, last hallway trash and last boss were pretty much a Cure2Fest2020 for me. Jesus I wanted to Holy my heart out so much but the tank was just far too squishy to risk wiping. I love that they're trying but PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO GO UPDATE YOUR GEAR FROM VENDORS SO YOU DON'T MAKE YOUR HEALER BECOME A HEALBOT AND WE CAN HELP CONTRIBUTE DPS TO MAKE THINGS DIE FASTER. THIS IS WHY MY SALT LEVELS ARE GOING UP SLOWLY AS I KEEP PLAYING A ROLE THAT I GENUINELY LOVE BUT AM SLOWLY GROWING TO HATE EVEN MORE BECAUSE OF SH*T LIKE THIS. YOU HAVE HOW MANY 80S NOW?

    My healer salt is real.

You know, it's pretty funny how everyone assumes that people don't know what to do when more than likely they are watching netflix so they, of course, can't play properly when they don't pay attention. Although i'm pretty sure we all know this, just don't wanna get reported for "dissing my playstyle". Heh.

This isn't me fishing for pity, but me accepting this fact and getting these thoughts out here. What really caused this realization was me playing Eden. I didn't have the reflexes to keep up with the new mechanics, and I died a lot. One of the people in the party told the healer "Do not raise them, it's not worth the trouble".

And you know what? It's true. I don't want to be a dead weight to other people. But I do not have the skill right now to do the Eden raids. But this doesn't mean I'm going to stop playing FFXIV. I am still going to level other jobs, like WHM and DRK. So I'd still like to help people whenever possible!
So, out of curiosity, are we talking normal or savage Eden?

If it's savage, honestly, unless you have a static it strikes me that it can be hard to improve; if you're interested in doing them, find a group of like-minded souls who are also fairly new to the savage world and give it a try. A static like that might not last forever, but it would give everyone a chance to try to learn and improve without having to be at the whims of party finder (and the impatience of strangers); if everyone is new to it and learning, folks are probably more patient with each other as they learn. I'm new to savage raiding and while I'm not still not what I'd call great, I've been learning alongside friends which has helped a lot.

And honestly, a lot of raiding comes down to knowing the mechanics rather than how quickly you can react to them. (I mean, unless you're at the optimization phase of fighting, where as certain jobs you're trying to move as little as possible and react at the last possible instant to anything.)

If it's normal mode... the only way to get better there is also practice, but setting up a standing practice party like a static is probably overkill. But even just reaching out to folks in your FC (or other friends/connections) and seeing if they're willing to help you go through the fights a couple of times for the weekly tokens; after you've been through them a few times, you'll find the mechanics generally become easier. And doing things like running Copied Factory or something repeatedly is a great way to get practice on responding to mechanics in general while still having your full level 80 toolkit to work with.

While not wanting to be dead weight is a good thing... well, you say you want to help others, and you're not alone in that; I suspect there are others out there who'd be happy to help you practice and improve with those fights as well.

(All this assumes you actually want to keep trying Eden, of course. If not, please disregard post!)

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

Unlocked CT to unlock Alliance roulette. Man this was some mad fun. Tanks provoking stuff off of me and everything, and tanks provoking off of other tanks that aren't me lol what's going on here. When I did World of Darkness, the other 2 were still doing this. Leave it to the big eye ball boss to set everything right and they let me tank it lmao. Purple Doggy time and I was saying to myself "take care A and C" as I was in Ally B and we are gonna be Purpley Doggy's tonight's special din din. Upon getting out, there's arguing in chat between the two parties over who should tank what LOL.

Seriously though, a mix of lvl30(ish) gear, hempen tights, and "I kind of care" accessories.

I believe you ended up with TLD ~ Trolladin.

Right after the 1st boss in 'The Aurum Vale' the Tank said "" he then pulled a large group, we wiped. My comment to him ""

In bardams i forgot that the 1 hp effect activates BEFORE the invincibility still despite them 'fixing it' all SE has to do is make the invicibility go up before your hp drops. how can i tell that's what happened? the hit that killed me came AFTER the effect of superbolide went up. meaning my hp was considered to be at 1, but not untouchable. i have killed myself at least 10 times doing it and every single one pisses me off because its NOT my fault. you basically have to bait super almost a good 2 seconds early to be on the safe side. its stupid and i hate it...

i have actually seen more than several Rescue into enemy mobs healers. luckily none of those times were when i was tanking, and if they had my response would be about the same as theirs. thats increadibly rude to use rescue just because you can't be arsed to explain how big you want your pulls at the start of a dungeon. heck i even seen someone pull a mass puller back from the second group of enemies.

one line of text. you can literally belt that one line of text DURING THE BLACK SCREEN TRANSITION....

just DF levelling and tank was really in a rush, standard grab mob and sprint, but because healer is still sprout, we got "semi" wiped 2 times (semi because only healer and tank die)

so i ask him to slow down a bit and pull 1 mob at the time (we already on last part of the dungeon anyway), and this is his reply...

iam not mad or anything but, you could just say no or sorry iam in a hurry or something. why bring TOS of all things.
