In terms of the thread, wishful thinking stuff, I would love to see this game do some renewal with old duties, like a lot of other MMOs have done. There's this narrative that they shouldn't bother improving old content, and they should put all their resources into new stuff. I get the idea but I don't think extremes in either direction are good. FFXIV is such that a lot of the players are interacting with a lot of the content from 15-80 often.

It would be insane to remake the old content and I would never ask that. Though I'd love if a small cross-disciplinary team of no more than ten people and less than three months of time just went through old stuff and asked what are relatively cheap and easy ways to take what we have learned from this past decade and make this way better.

Examples:
  • Bring in markers that they've added later to describe stuff to help teach people sooner, like stack markers or the new trailing marker.
  • Remove like 90% of the prompts; they are unnecessary.
  • Keep the idea of encounters the same, but see if it can be expressed better when it's not intuitive.
  • Fix egregious scripting issues like the last boss of Haukke HM.
  • Kill the MSQ roulette completely and make those two dungeons into solo instances.
There's a lot of old content I would change nothing about. Like Stone Vigil? To me that is one of the best ARR dungeons. On the other hand, Copperbell Mines is still my least favourite dungeon in the game and I feel like there's some small tweaks that could make it more fun for new players and veterans alike.

They are improving the story pacing for ARR and apparently HW later on so maybe it's not so preposterous.
