It that because Love is Blind, and it is Hard to Heal a Broken Heart?
They only have the same name for the event. In the XI event there is no Arabelle de Valentione mentioned in the story.So... FFXI flashback much with this quest?

Story from last year about the countess
http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...aa0ef7e9d2ddc0History
Currently observed throughout Eorzea, Valentione's Day was originally established to pay tribute to Countess Arabelle de Valentione of Ishgard—a remarkable woman who exhibited unparalleled courage in her quest for true love. In present day, it has become an occasion on which people express feelings of love and gratitude to those most important in their lives. This is commonly done via the exchange of simple chocolate bon-bons crafted specially by the giver.
While in recent years there have been complaints that the true spirit of the day has been grossly perverted—now little more than a marketing ploy conjured up by the Culinarians' Guild and the Company of Eorzean Kukuru Growers to increase sales of their products—this does not take away from the fact that countless people across the realm use this tradition to bring happiness to others. And isn't that what the countess would have wanted?
SE and FFXI/XIV has a ton of artists who shift around doing artwork for things so pretty sure AY still does artwork and model/clothing designs.
For example, Jun Sumei did this artwork:

Yet Mitsuhiro Arita did this artwork:

So no worries, he'll still be doing artwork lol.
Yeah, but what about the chocolate heart-creating, chocolate heart-giving part of the quest?
I'm not having a go at it, I'm just saying it's strangely similar~

This is because it's a japanese game and in japan it is tradition that girls give boys they like chocolate on valentines day.
Even ragnarok have every year a valentines event with chocolate and it is a korean game.
Thats odd, over here in Britland it's tradition for boys to give the gifts, and get rejected. ; ;

That's sweet! The little items for the event look fun and I love how Se is adding new emotes for the events now. Makes it a lot of fun.
Edit: Anyone know if there will be an achievement for this event?
