My healers wife went into labor and he DCd leaving us stranded on Mt Gulg. Understandable of course but left us mid boss fight. Somthing you don’t see everyday had a similar issue during Labyrinth where I had “Responsibilities” and couldn’t multitask so left with a message that made everyone cheer for me lol

Basicly what others have said. experience will lend itself well to calm. once you know how basics work you start watching bosses and learning their dangerous attacks and how to counter them. after that its repetition and practice, though bad parties will happen i treat it as an excuse to see how far i can carry less experienced or less considerate players...but i suggest that last part wait until you have some familiarity with other things first.

Then again tanking and healing require the same degree of calm in some places.

my advice is spend a bit of time learning the dungeons. once you know what a boss will do it becomes a matter of countering that in the most effective way possible. and don't freak so much on the bad days. how many numbers of runs in will you get following a bad run? more than you want to count in a week. learn from bad ones. solidify your knowledge and experience in good ones.

Thank you this is very helpful. I get what you mean. I've gotten very comfortable with tanking, to the degree that I generally don't experience any major worries when I'm running stuff. That was only after a long time of practice and repetition. I think I just didn't expect how different shifting perspectives to healing would feel for me.

I won't give up on healing - I've only just started. I'll keep practicing and trying to get comfortable with things and just keep trying to improve

Yeah, you definitely can't just wait for the free cure 2 proc, just heal and use lucid dreaming. There should not have been party wide damage if the tank was actually tanking properly. Blame that on the tank who can't hold aggro. Even if you accidentally pull an add, the tank should have picked it up.

That's really good to know. I'd never heard the bit about cure 1/freecure being a trap; I was equating it to thundercloud in my head. SO lucid dreaming is really potent enough to be able to keep you up with cure 2? I knew it was good but didn't realize it was that good!

I've definitely had numerous experiences lately of tanks who have had an odd aversion to using AoEs when establishing aggro, even after the party asks them to multiple times. There was one run where the tank did not use overpower once, despite pulling 2-3 packs at a time. They just... used their single target chain on one enemy until it was dead before moving onto the next. The other DPS and I ended up focusing on killing anything that aggroed our healer just to try and keep folks alive. It was chaos.

I'd say don't overuse your heals still, even with lucid dreaming, but don't be worried to burn through a bit of your MP when needed. Keep in mind how potent your heals are, you don't need to spam heals continuously otherwise you will overheal, it'll just be a waste... well if your tank is actually tanking properly.. Heal when you need to, once you get more comfortable you should know what health thresholds you need to pop each heal for, and can even do some damage in between. You can even use things like swiftcast to skip a cast if needed, rather than saving it if someone dies.

Yeah, not much you can do about a tank who doesn't know how to tank. Other than carrying them if possible, kicking them, or just leaving. It's pretty sad considering how easy it is to hold aggro since ShB.

Probably cause they had other healers that were able to heal through it, and dps that were able to make short work of the pull. I have done it where I just got out of an awesome group that was flawless and still on high so to speak fail to assess the situation before doing the pull which leads to a wipe.

Not saying you were the problem, could have been manu factors. Just mentioning my mindset when I do mongo pulls off the bat without taking the group into account.

More like they'll pull the first two toadstools, the two frogs, all the plants and jellyfish from the start to the boss room, and stand in the bile for good measure. That's what I had for the past several runs since roulette keeps throwing me in there.

Selected Ghimlyt Dark as SCH. All deaths were DPS being DPS. Tank had clearly played the game longer than ten minutes with a booster. Only dropped to half health a few times thanks to properly managed cds and me not being absolutely useless. Dropped a Fey Union when I had to res both DPS. Dropped one on the DeadPS because I had no Aetherflow left and Tank was full with Excog and Adlo. One of them lost connection twice on the final boss and nearly caused a wipe. Same dude wasted our LB on the mob literally right before it.

No commendations, not even a gg.

I will straight up tell the raid if the tanks are going to fight for aggro, at least stack on each other for this very reason. It was incredibly annoying when I was on my monk or ninja.
