Bards were also infantrymen who were most famously used in the Autumn War, reluctant hunters who were conscripted to fight against invaders. The exact sequence of events is a bit muffled, but eventually the city-states noticed the power of bard 'battlesongs' and tried to utilise it en masse with dedicated performers, but this failed to achieve the desired effect, and the true bards sort of faded into obscurity, their art entrusted to the Twelveswood Moogles of all things. The Bard trainer, Jehantel, learned the art of the Bard through the aid of said moogles, and hoped to re-introduce it to the God's Quiver, with the WoL being the first 'test candidate' to prove its worth. By the current time there is now a whole squad of Bards serving Gridania.

So yeah, not unique to WoL.

So each country has a job representing their elite warriors
    Ul'dah: Paladin
    Gridania: Bard
Limsa: Their version of Machinist (Musketeers) is supposed to be it but what we get is the Ishgard version
    Ishgard: Dragoon
    Ala Mhigo: Monk
    Sharlayan: Astrologian
    Doma: Samurai
    Thavnair: Dancer
    Bozja: Gunbreaker

We could say that Dragoon is on a strange place: The Wol has a very specific combat style unique to them. While other Dragoons are specialized on fighting big creatures (aka dragons) Wol style is suited for facing both big foes and normal sized ones

Also Monk is stated to have a different style from ortodox monks due to his/her pugilist background that mixes alongside monk usual techniques

GNB has actually began to expand into adventurer groups now as it is stated that a handful of adventurers have begun to pick up the Gunbreaker Job due to Radovan constant advertising of the Gunbreaker during his mercenary missions.

We may see the extent of the Jobs expanding since WoL has become a Master at the specific Jobs in 6.0 if they have the Job Role Quests for 6.0 use characters from the Job storyline.

RDM because there's only 1 other, +1 in training and Alisaie is a RDM, but not a Crimson Duelists so I don't know how that counts. Alisaie doesn't wear the red.
WTM because there's only 2 others I think? It's suppose to be Padjal only.
DRG, while there are many Dragoons, there's only 2 other "Azure Dragoons" (one of whom, I don't think is officially a "Azure Dragoon")
GNB, it's unclear how rare this job is. The one who teaches you thinks he's the last of his kind, only to find others during the job quests.
Alisaie was trained by the same person we did, she doesnt need to wear red either she can still be a crimson duelist but most importantly shes one of the Main Characters, having gear that shows off her job isnt required.

Padjals are fairly common as well, theres the girl from SB WHM Quests/the Conjurer trainer/Kan-e-Senna/the 2 WHM Padjals that train us early/another one at Quarymill too

At lvl 80[?] i think the GNB trainer mentions hes been training adventurers who got interested in the class as well so yeah doubt hes alone.

Now that I think on it, the WoL isn't a Crimson Duelist so that wouldn't even count, even if I'm wearing the red. The Crimson Duelists are a defunct organization.

Dark knight is the single least-common job, with only one other known to be alive.

Scholar is a close second with two (and one of them can't use the full skill set due to still being stuck as a tonberry....and the WoL has his fairy anyway).

Black mage is a little murky, since it's not entirely certain if the three beast men who help during the 30-50 quests are actually black mages or not. They follow some of the teachings passed down by their parents, but they're never really stated to have soul crystals of their own. Other than them, there's only one other.

There are no other non-Padjal white mages, but there are a few of those.

There are only three other known summoners and three other red mages, with one of those red mages still in training.

A number of jobs are uncommon in Eorzea but more common in their homeland; samurai, ninja, dancer, blue mage, astrologian. Gunbreaker may or may not apply here; we haven't really seen enough Bozjans yet to know, but Radovan implies that there aren't many left.

Warriors are rare in more civilized areas in general, but more common in wilder, more tribal regions.

Paladin and dragoon have entire organizations. Machinists are building one as well, but they're still pretty new.

Bards and monks used to have larger organizations, then had their numbers decimated, and are now on the rebound.

This is all leaving aside people who are called something without actually being of that job, of course. Many Sharlayans are scholars, but they're not Scholars, if you get what I'm saying. And a couple of people use dark knight animations, but don't seem to be dark knights.

Dragoons have never had a large organization. They're an elite side unit of the Temple Knights and have only had up to 30 members at one time and according to the lore book, they only have 10 living members left.
