Still not sure why they dont have a blind auction system.
    Example :
Bidding timer lasts a day or two
Bidding starts at 3mil for a small
You can put in any amount at or above that
You have no idea if anyone else has bid or what amount they have bid
If you lose the bid the gil gets returned to you

This system would favor the rich of course, but at least its not as random and it would be an even better gil sink.

I honestly would like if the added a "Airship House"
FC workshops should be available through the barracks door in the GC offices.

Theres no good reason they arent, given that workshops are no longer tied to the plot, but to the FC (you dont have to re-purchase schematics or re-unlock voyage slots when relocating, where you previously did).

The floor for houses would be ~50 / 80 mil for medium / large on smaller servers (and its likely more like 75/120 at this point), and significantly more on larger ones.

    Nobody really wants that.

Yes, FFXI's houses were a tad crude compared to FFXIV's, yet in a game where it was GUARANTEED that a large proportion of the players would want a house SE designed something totally broken from the start .. better a crude one that's available than a more sophisticated one that isn't.
Bingo. This. Make instanced housing, this 'neighborhood' nonsense isn't even something people consider.

Considering there are people out there with capped gil on multiple characters.. I understand why this isn't an option. If you were "poor" you wouldn't stand a chance.

overall if the team could just come up with instanced gardens (maybe a community greenhouse that works like apartments except it makes little gardening plots) and "rentable" airship hangers , most of the problems everyone has would go away.

I like my house, but don't care for neighborhoods.

I think having both a neighborhood Housing areas and an instance Housing area is alright. So far, this isn't working.

And if neighborhoods get in the way for EVERYONE to have a house, I say get it rid of it if they can't figure something out where most people are satisfied.

Eh, I don't say get rid of the old wards. In fact I'd keep them and add extra wards to them at the same pace that they have been doing it up until now - basically new additions every two years as needed. What I'd like is the option to /also/ have instanced housing on top of it. Which is what apartments should have been, with a gold sink being attached to it in order to upgrade to a small, medium or large for a sizable sum.

But oh boy. I used to be on Zodi too, and own small house there, so just let me be a bit baffled here: Has that small server grown so much to have + half dozen people camping on free plots, /slapping and being kinda awful to others? O_o

Compare and contrast: When I bought my Zodi plot (ye olden days of something like 4.2 or 4.3 so not even that outrageously long time ago) it was max devalued small, and not even the only free in just that one ward.
On average I have seen 2-4 people at most camping at Rag, which is supposed to be a lot bigger server. Everyone seems nothing but civil.

I was not even sure if I am going to be on Rag in year, so at first I held back on trying to buy house. I clicked on plots for like 5-10 minutes at a time and determined rule for myself to give up if someone else came along. I was pretty sure it'd keep me from acquiring anything ever --- until it did not xD

    https://youtu.be/qaU5Sqqu2MQ?t=123

(On my shaky defence about me breaking my own give up policy I did not notice the person at the beginning of the video when I first came to the plot. As you can see I did not even click but once here and there because I was reading something from laptop or something, semi-afk mode. She was not there then, which was less than 5 minutes ago from the beginning of the video. You can see her... kinda phasing in and out of existence throughout even that short clip. Internet problems? )

Housing is battleground, for sure. But I suppose it is working as intended making it not broken per se: limited resource for players who have the cash and luck at their side at right time. Unpopularly I never found anything bad or even outrageously unfair about that system.

I'd love to see SE give us those bigger apartments people keep suggesting. I would actually prefer that.

IDK about Zodiak but on Odin it's the same and I would assume it's the same on all other servers. Currently auto-demolition is halted which means that there are virtually no free plots to have, not even on less popular cities like Ul'dah.

Basically there are way to few plots available for players to buy and SE apparently pretty much has abandoned apartments (no changes, no different sizes). Ishgard housing might relieve the strain a but but the fact remains that SE has pretty much painted themselfes in a corner here.

With this system rich would be the only people who has a house in the first place. It's not even favoring, it's just gifting it to them.
