I've been leveling GNB the last week or two as part of getting all tanks to 80 which are my last to get. I've noticed a trend that I'm almost always in the top couple of dps. Heck, earlier today I topped the list in the moon lady trial. I know that GNB dps is on the high side of things, but not that much lol. I can't even rembember a single content that there wasn't at least one dps behind me. On the bright side, I did find out that I actually like how gunbreaker plays which surprised me given that I don't like tanking. I think it's because I feel like I'm dps-ing and the tank stuff is super straightforward.

Edit. Realized this comes across as a brag,but it's definitely not I am not a great tank. Serviceable, sure. Great, no. Just lamenting the low dps I see compared to what I know can be achieved.

I found the same thing while leveling my tank jobs. It's not quite as bad while leveling a healer alt, but still happens from time to time. It's disgusting how few people keep their GCD rolling.

I've reached the point where I'll commend any dps who deals more damage than the tank and healer. It doesn't happen too often.

Running roulettes with my BF and we get to Normal raids.

I decide to cotank with him. I'm GNB and he's WAR.

It's O8N! Kefka!!! I love this fight.

I go in to MT and everything seems to be going ok... Until our melee, a and both healers get yeeted off the stage by I think the third Aero assault, right after his timely teleport. I think he was at a little more than 50%.

My BF goes "Uh oh, that's bad, and I look to the player list, and I panic a little cause I didn't see everyone fall off and don't realize that Hyperdrive is going off so I don't pop a CD.

I'm a panicking even more, but he's chill AF and he's just like "Imma voke it off you." and so I shirk him and start popping Aurora on the DPS to keep them up.

In the end we didn't have enough to keep the DPS up, there's 5%. We tank swap two more times and I superbolide the stack marker.

and we beat him right as he was casting another raid wide aoe.

It was really exciting to cooperate like that with him. I don't tank very often, and never in something that you have to really tank swap.

By the end of it I was panic button mashing like "OMFG PLEASE DIE." and he was still chill AF.

It was a fun good experience though!!

It doesn't come off as bragging to me. This story is akin to the many times I've outDPS stronger DPS jobs on DNC...and while it should feel good, it doesn't. Also GNB is very fluid thanks to continuation, and all the skills line up pretty well with No Mercy.

But actually, unless you are standing where you shouldn't, they wouldn't.

One was using it on cooldown /as soon as/ orange circles appeared. I don't dare dream of interrupting DPS rotation when danger zones appear, and at the very least, any dps with long cast times and a teleport mobility is on my lowest yeeting priority list. Honestly the only time I really find myself using rescue is during those quirk room wide-insta KO's in the older raids, when a sprout clearly doesn't know what's about to happen. Casters are squishy, yes, but they can usually survive a single hit. Hardly worth rescuing for, especially when there's a delay that a great majority of people know how to time.

I just had a run where I was clearly the top dps... as GNB, in Holminster. We wiped once to Tesleen but that was the SCH's fault for somehow managing to get tagged 3 times in a row by the dashes. Rest of the run was uneventful. Slow, but uneventful. DRG gave me the tether since the other DPS was a BLM in narnia. I don't think they were really doing positionals as well as they should have been since they werent actively getting behind the bosses a lot of the time.

I had a GNB last night in Sohm Al hard that:

-asked me if I wanted mass pulls, I said yes, doesn't proceed to do them often.
-sets himself down the second I pop a regen on them. Yes. He would run, I would pop regen and hug his booty like a good whm, he would immediately stop.
-would oftentimes let aggro run to either me or the dps.
-second boss he wouldn't move for the frontal cleave and would eat the slashing wind like they were cookies.
-wouldn't move the last boss from the side of the arena when we had an obviously glaring lava pool behind the boss so the two dps couldn't get in their positionals. For reference, we had a drg and sam as our dps.
-also died on the last boss because he wouldn't Super when I was getting my Bene ready. Somehow I was second in aggro the entire time.
-also has just about everything between 61-80, specifically 3 tanks at 80. GNB was his only 61.

I think I got trolled, guys.

First time ever seeing anyone die in Main Scenario from a Proto Ultima Arm while riding in a Magitek Armor.

Made a gruesome death sound like choking on your own blood.

No big deal, everyone got a laugh out of it, but was still interesting to have happen.

I had a very pleasant PvP match earlier. Everybody on my team worked together brilliantly and we dominated the other two teams. I'm now up to 45/100 wins for the mount from the Xaela battleground. Almost halfway there - it'll take me a while to acquire it but I'm in no huge rush.

I recently did a dungeon- I was a red mage; well the SCH with us came in salty or maybe it was something I missed during the run- I'm typically very polite to my groups or very silly.
The tank either upset the SCH or he didn't give 2 cents about anyone but himself-
Either way, he did not heal. Ever. Only his fairy did the healing, nothing else- the tank held aggro just fine- until he would die because the SCH refused to shield or heal-
I started using vercure as often as I could- which allowed the SCH to just continue doing his thing of DPS only.
The tank asks the SCH "You do know you can heal right? Then maybe share some of that healing/ it's your job" And that's all she wrote because the SCH had a page of an excuse pre-written as to why he didn't have to be there, yada yada
The only thing I had suggested is if they didn't want to heal, then just to play something else because it was making our run longer than it needed to be & griefing wasn't the way to go.

Another run with a SCH- I was with a friend who no longer gets on- but we had another SCH with us- different SCH- who refused to bring out their fairy- the SCH walked often, instead of sprinted & finally it hit me- they were RPing. I told my friend that I thought they were an RPer & sure enough, that's what it was.
The SCH was in a "fight" with their fairy, which is why the fairy refused to come out.
Needless to say, that too, was an unnecessarily long run.
