It's time (Option to Hide other players Glamour)

Playing the part of a broken record around these parts is a pretty effective tactic when it comes to seeing features implemented into the game itself. After all, that particular approach was exactly how some players managed to get the restrictions on glamour loosened.

It'd simply be a neat feature for those who wish to use it.

I'm sad this thread exists let alone has so many staunch supporters. Having a world full of different, sometimes goofy characters makes it more fun. I'm also surprised no mods exist making all characters wear bland potato sack slops to please this particular demographic.

You say you support variety and then poo-poo others personal preferences.

Except it really isn't, that's not whats going on at all, you know whats one of the Interesting aspects of a videogame? Options, sort of like how players are given the option to present themselves as fabulous as they want with glamours, it would be nice for players who aren't interested to be given the option to dispel it from their perspective, glamour dispelling isn't unheard of in fantasy media. So stop trying to make that false equivalency argument with as it just doesn't work in this context.

The funny thing is people using mods are already changing glamours, their owns as the ones of other players.

The sad thing is mods are badly considered because of weirds without considering all nice things that can be done with mods. There are a lot of fantastic glamours made using mods and some nice graphics overhaul.

This said, I understand not everyone (talking for myself, my PC can't handle it) have a PC that can handle mods engines (as an overlay on FFXIV).

I promise you right now if SE puts this in, the same day its added threads will be up from people who have it on but still see the silly gear in dungeons. I should not have to explain how people will pull it off as its clear as day a simple hide glam option will not solve this problem.

That would probably be the most expensive way to implement this option, a blacklist for glamour sets or glamour dispelling.

A less costly and less time consuming way would be to have an option that changes players to their job's default relic armor look. Altering other players IS already a thing after all. You can mute the sound effects of everyone, everyone but you, everyone but your party or everyone but you and your party. You can also disable or change the effects of abilities and spells for you, your party, everyone or everyone but you and your party. Defaulting players to their job relic armor would work the exact same way, everyone, everyone but you, everyone but your party or everyone but you and your party. That would be the simplest, easiest and most rudimentary way of handling this, if it were a thing, and it probably wouldn't cause as many problems with the spaghetti code as blacklisting individual pieces of glamour would.

And I admit that I have recently been muting my party's sound effects and also disabling them so I can only hear and see my own. And in my opinion, the game is a whole lot more serene when you can only hear and see your own battle effects instead of the fireworks light-show when you have everything on [Some of the visual effects for this game are becoming far too flamboyant and flashy, if I might add]. So I can no longer judge or be against this option because I already alter other players on my screen by muting them and also disabling their effects, and judging and being against this option, other than saying no only because it'll cost what little resources are being cycled into the game, would make me a hypocrite.

I finished Shadowbringers on an alt today. Someone in the Dying Gasp was wearing a bunny head - something I had previously thought would be immersion-breaking if it happened to me, however much I'll defend their right to do so... and I honestly didn't even notice it until the victory cutscene. And my immersion wobbled for all of five seconds before I went back to thinking about the story and had completely forgotten it by the time I left the trial and started watching the next cutscene. I wouldn't have even remembered it if seeing this thread didn't jolt my memory.

to all these people saying no to the option here is the thing they did it in FFXI although it put everyone into their starter gear so it basically lowered lag by not rendering others armor that is something they may add eventually who knows

I'd love to have it even just to reduce lag. Doing hunts or special fates with huge amount of players is an absolute pain right now (for me at least).

It's not like you're going to cancel your sub even if the option were ever to be added anyway.
