So....its consistent and Constant?
Ill concur to this statement.
Lurker here. Chiming in to to say I support Male Viera and Female Hrothgar. If we do get them, my personal hope's the latter has more beastial facial features to match the males, instead of being "modelized" to make them more humanly attractive. I'm also in the camp that prefers the Male Viera fanart depiction in Zeylos' signature to other examples.
If I get neither of my design preferences, I'll live. Atleast they'll get implemented and enjoyed by someone in the end. I'm also going to echo previous posters and assume SE isn't going to just plop them in the game willy nilly with no explanation, addendums or changes to lore. They're better than that.
I really don't think you have anything to worry about on the lore front, Zanarkand-Ronso (again, assuming they are added).
I just hope Yoshida doesn't add male Viera with the mentality that male Viera "should be made to fill a niche" (fat, short, bishounen/lgbt, etc) just like female Viera wasn't used to fill a niche. They were just added as Matsuno wanted. So if male Viera does get added I really hope Yoshida doesn't give Matsuno any pre-conditions as to what niche male Viera should fill. It just needs to fill the SAME design female Viera followed: Tall, dark, and attractive.
This is a very important thing that we need to convey to the devs. These are fan favorite races, not something brand new like Au ra.
The miqo'te analogy is the best one to make my statement more solid:
Miqo'te and Hyur connection: When male Miqo'te was conceptualized they modeled them just like Hyur midlanders, it didn't really matter if they were both short/average height. Point being, Male Miqo'te wasn't used to fill any visual niche considering they just look like male Hyur Midlanders with ears.
So male Viera should follow the same design blueprint: Make them tall, strong, handsome like male Elezen but hopefully stronger (have to give it some difference).
I know I'm bringing back the dreaded concept art VS bishounen debate but I just needed to let the devs know where some/a lot of stand as far as the reasons behind designing male Viera. Some/a lot of us that want male Viera want them based on FANSERVICE, we don't want them added to fill a customization niche/crowd: bishounen/lgbt, fat, short. We want what was shown in the Au ra concept art slides, that's how most of us envisioned them, like female Viera but with a lot of muscle and rugged look to them (they're jungle people after all).
They added skirts and thongs based on lgbt; I just want them to not force the same thing on Male Viera to fill a similar niche. Viera is an existing fan service race, not a brand new race to fill some niche.
I'm am agree with the point that race shouldn't be done for the sake of filling a niche, hovewer: "skirts and thongs"© have nothing to do with LGBT. Clothes are clothes. Piece of cloth, nothing more. Go to Scotland and try to imply that every guy in a kilt (which, no matter how you look at this, is a skirt) is gay. Trying to break some outdated stereotypes by adding non-gendered clothes isn't catering to LGBT. It's simply that: trying to break outdated stereotypes so people will have more freedom in expressing themselves without being accused in being somehow "wrong".

Whole lore discussion makes me think: Who are these people, at this time, who have adamantly demanded male Viera and screw the lore recognition? The angry mob which threatened to quit the game after the fanfest revealing hrothgar and no male viera? Strawmen?
I'm sure that first flavour of dissatisfaction for FFXIV is smouldering somewhere (likely on Twitter) still, but let's be real: you do not see people blow a gasket and threaten cancellation of subscription left and right because of "no male vieraa!!! >: (((((((". Not anymore.
And that burst of that flavour of dissatisfaction before ShB was just big and not entirely unwarranted expectations being left to gutter, and nerdy anguish that ensued.
Like CherryCola said.

I respect those who left the game because of no male Viera, their voice is as important as anyone's. They're a very important part of the equation for adding male Viera.
Let's hope SE has more ressources and time for 6.0 as they had for 5.0 not only to fix current issues but also to add the missing genders into the game. I don't really think that lore is the main problem but money and time to develop female Hrothgar and male Viera are.
Hopefully we might travel to Hrothgars homeland and Dalmasca in the future and not just in an instance like for example the Ivalice Raid. Would be a good opportunity to complete both races but I am also a huge Dalmasca fan and would like to see more of it either way.
