Anyone else want to see minor Scions get promoted to bigger roles?

I think it would be great to expand upon other members within the Scions of the Seventh Dawn even if it's through optional side quests. It's understandable that major Scions such as Y'shtola, Thancred, Urianger, Alphinaud, Alisaie, and even Tataru will always get a lot of screen time but the organization is a bit bigger than just them.

It doesn't have to be extremely major like Y'shtola's and Thancred's involvement in Shadowbringers but instead something along the lines of Arenvald's involvement in the Post-Stormblood main scenario quests. Arenvald went from a background character to someone that we eventually got to know.

From what I gathered in the lore book, here is a list of non-major living members still with the organization that could maybe get a plot promotion:

- Coultenet Dailebaure
- Alianne Vellegrance
- Riol Forrest
- Slafswys Helbloefwyn
- Dariustel Sompt
- V'mah Tia
- Ocher Boulder
- Aenor Cockburne
- Ephemie Giphelmont
- Aergmhus Saehstymmysn

Arenvald Lentinus used to be part of this list but the developers were able to pull him out and expand on his background and identity. F'lhaminn Qesh, while still playing a somewhat minor role, is also a character whose background and identity we are all already familiar with since it ties in with Minfillia which is why I didn't list her.

Personally, I'd like to see something done with Hoary Boulder since he's always at the center whenever they gather around the background characters. More story on Riol would also be interesting since he was the guy that tipped us off about the Crystal Braves. Lastly, I think Dariustel would be interesting since all Duskwights that play a somewhat bigger role (if any) are always villainous, from what I recall.

I think this would help flesh out the organization more as a whole and give it more identity than just the small circle of friends that we are familiar with. What do you guys think?

I understand that, like Minfilia, most of the work he does is behind the scenes, but I still feel like he deserves more screen time. He's even a former member of the non-Echo using primal slayers, the Order of Heroes!

That was a long time ago in-game; also, too much Fire Emblem Heroes. In the wake of the civilization-ending plague I did manage to kick the habit though!

Personally I do not. FFXIV suffers from character bloat, the more screentime a minor character gets, the less the major ones get. And the major scions already don't get that much screentime.

I definitely want to see Dariustel back. We don't have enough Duskwight characters, especially as non-villains, and it seemed like he was being set up as a supporting character in ARR (he gets a speaking line in the post-credits "welcome back" scene) but then he drops out entirely and is never seen again. The first lorebook (IIRC) says he's currently monitoring the beast tribes, but there's been little news on that front in ages. Maybe he could team up with Arenvald and Fordola...?

I'm conflicted.

On one hand, it'd be nice to see more of Riol and Arenvald. On the other hand, major characters are already lacking in consistent screen-time due to the amount of attention that the Scions already receive by comparison.

Would also like to see more of Horey Boulder, his partner and his brother. And also would like to see how the scions in general are fareing with most of the leadership isekai'd to the first (the WoL technically excluded)

Unukalhai should most definitely get some screen time. I would honestly be very surprised if Unukalhai is forgotten in Shadowbringers since he is a disciple of Elidibus. I actually don't consider him to be a "minor" Scion because I expect him to become a "major" one very soon. I would be very surprised if the writers bury him and forget his existence.

The only question is how the writers would reintroduce him in the main scenario quests for players who never completed the Warring Triad story.

I think I am at the point where I am ready for a new cast to take over.. I just want a few characters to be added and I want them to be involved more in the current stories or the stories to come. Hien is new and shiny to me still, so he can stay. But like the twins? Urianger? Yawn, overplayed, overused. Tired.

I don't really understand this logic. It's a continuous story with an established supporting cast. You don't just drop them all and pick up a new set of characters to replace them.

Giving more characters some time in the spotlight is one thing, or even introducing new major allies for each expansion, but they're not going to abandon the core cast.

And uhh the city state leaders. I'd like them to do more than sit in their towns and twiddle their thumbs. It'd be nice if Merlwyb contracted the Ironworks or something to outfit her ships with magitek. It'd be nice if Gridana lady and the conjurer's guild started lending out their healing services to the front lines. It'd be nice to see how Lolorito and the Sultana are getting along as well, even though i hate the Sultana.

Did you miss the bit where they all joined the Eorzean Alliance and fought alongside us on the battlefield at the Ghimlyt Dark? "Gridania lady" saved us from being blasted by a colossus and everything. (And if her Tale From the Calamity is anything to go by, she certainly would have been healing people on the battlefield during and afterwards - it's just not a particularly exciting thing to show within the game.)

Nanamo last showed up in the Saltery sidequests and Lolorito is involved in that at a background level too, wherever they take it from here.

Well, now that they've set a precedent for making previously-optional content required for MSQ...

But, really he should have been brought back into play ages ago. Or give him something to do in a subsequent sidequest OR at very least have him off doing some kind of important task so there's a reason for him to be not involved in the MSQ, rather than sitting around the solar all day but not getting involved in the quest unfolding in the main hall.
