Locking dyable artifact gear behind a extreme trial, good idea?

I mean yes, pretty much anyone doesn't want to deal with randoms because you expect the worst from them. Even me. I don't like PF that much either and I've had bad experiences with it. I wish playing with randoms was a constantly good experience but oh well.

But...it's not like it's impossible to clear EX trials on PF. A static is definitely not required for something like that. Maybe during the days of Titan or Thordan EX sure but I remember most people cleared fine through PF.

It would be no different than the way it is currently. People who have already cleared the fight would queue up for duty complete parties. If you queued for duty completion, people would expect you to know the fight well enough to clear. Et cetera.

But "being forced" to use party finder keeps a lot of people away. Regardles if they cleared already or not.

I don't really see why. Filling a PF is just duty finder but with the ability to fine tune your group to your own specifications. If you aren't nervous about queueing in via duty finder, party finder really shouldn't bother you.

For me personally, the difference between PF and DF is that through the DF, I will clear what I queue for 99.99999% of the time. PF? More like .0000001%. It could just be terrible luck, but there's a reason I don't do many extremes anymore. It isn't my ability to do them, because I know I can with enough practice and knowledge. It is the 7 other people I have to worry about, and it is downright stressful. The latest extreme was added stress because everyone and their pet goats wanted a clear. Eventually I just gave up.

I do have to admit that while the trial is really fun, it's a strange decision as a reward.

I don't know why they made it 480 and attached no mount. I beat the trial once, the glam isn't great ...so I'm done. 485 or even 490 would have made more sense, any player who isn't savage geared would probably farm a set, maybe even give them a little stepping stone to Savage.

My guess is that the EX gear is just there for the 5 materia slots and early access to the dyeable version. An unweathered dyeable 2 slot version of the i430 job gear is likely coming in a future patch.

Then next patch the tome upgrades get released and we turn our Allegory gear into 500ilv and that takes over and becomes relevant again. So a 485-490 set wouldn't even make anything irrelevant, just serve as a decent patch filler.

i485 5 slot/i490 5 slot gear will just make the upcoming i490 alliance raid gear meaningless.

Why take something away from casual players to use as a reward for EX players who don't even want it that much, then refuse EX players any sort of reward they'd actually farm for. Both sides have lost out really.

The prize for the EX is early access gear/more customizable entry level raid gear. It is not really targeted at casual players and more aimed at the midcore player base.

If you queued up via raid finder your odds of clearing are the same as if you used party finder, assuming you know how to use the raid finder filters. The majority of the content in duty finder is faceroll dungeons and trials. So again, there wouldn't be a difference between queueing up via Raid Finder and making a party finder for it.
