Something similiar happened to me on Ramuh a lot.
An orb was lying right next to me, I ran through, saw the tiny explosion that indicates that someone popped it. Judgement Bolts cast goes off aaaaaand I'm dead.
The person standing next to me got the buff instead and I didn't notice it in time to grab a new one. Now I'm always making sure I'm the only one in a 100 mile radius when hogging an orb.

A little confused.

I ran Orbonn Monastery for the first time a little while ago. I watched a guide, but as a healer with just a quick synopsis, I figured I would make mistakes. I actually did much better than I though I would, and maybe better if our tank wasn't always running off to fight with other alliances.

Anyway on the third boss, all but my co-healer was dead in our Alliance. Someone kept chanting "Healer LB3, Healer LB3, Healer LB3..." which made sense. Instead my co-healer cast a Raise on me. Then promptly died. At about the same instant he died I accepted the rez notice that popped up on my screen. I immediately hit LB3 but died before it finished casting, so we pretty much rode the rest of that fight on the ground.

Someone in our alliance said something to the effect of, "Why did you accept the rez? He could have healed one of us?" as if I had made a boneheaded move.

I'm really not sure what the point was? Was there some trick that I should know for not rezzing when everyone else is dead? Or was it a backhanded way of saying the rez was wasted on me? Neither make sense to me. If I made a mistake I'd like to know what is was...

Ran roulette on BLM, got thrown into Brayflox normal. PLD AST and SAM made up the rest of the party, no new person notice. Tank naturally doesn't keep things close together, and that's their only job leveled. Okay. Plug and chug it is fine with me. Then I saw a 1 marker just pop and then disappear.

From start to finish, the AST was placing down and then removing waymarks to guide the tank through the dungeon, when Brayflox is probably one of the more linear dungeons. Even on the last boss.

I'm so confused.

Tip for new healers: Make a new HUD layout that prioritizes your party list in some form, preferably near your own HP info and hotbars. Watch it religiously like a hawk, your own "rotation" is incredibly simple, so you don't need to be eyeing your hotbars that much. Watch for debuffs and always purge asap. DPS loss is your fault too if you allow people to go without healing for too long. They key to being a good healer is simply just being attentive and aware of everything around you.

Good advice! As a white mage main, I cannot stress how important it is for a healer to have a straightforward HUD layout. If you don't need it, move it out of the way!

Do not take this advice as it is a quick route to getting a warning from the GMs.

Interesting. If this is the case, things have changed pretty drastically in this game. If this is really the case, then instead of shirking the puller, ask yourself if you want to put up with it. If not, leave and do something else for 30 minutes - it's not worth the stress.

They updated their harassment policy about a year back and most of it's rules are so hilariously broad that that kind of situation legitimately does have the chance of getting you smacked by certain GMs. Something about 'impeding other's play' if I remember correctly. Course you could make the argument the people in question were doing the same but most times you won't be the one the GM sides with if the other party decides to report.

So its not 100% clear what youre describing here. When you say "someone in our alliance said" do you mean your group(party C for instance), or one of the other two groups that make up the alliance? If the person speaking up was from a different group, Cid's arena has the 3 groups spread far enough apart that a healer from group A is rarely close enough to heal someone in trouble in group B. So if that was the case, they were just being dumb. If it was from your party, it also sounds kinda dumb. If the only person alive is the healer then he cant heal "one of us", he can only heal himself or res someone(or pop LB3 if its up). Choosing to res someone who can help with heals and/or resses makes sense without knowing the full context. As for why you would accept the res, if you were offered the res of course you should accept it. The only consideration is potentially delaying a second or two so that you stand up during a safe moment. Of course, not knowing the fight means you wouldnt know those safe moments anyway. Final point, the first thing you should do on standing up is make sure you get topped off. If the other healer died and couldnt top you off himself, a self heal(instant if you got it) should probly be your first ability cast. Once you start using a spell or ability your res invincibility goes away, so queing up something like a LB that has a delay(as far as i remember anyway - other healers, feel free to correct me if i have anything wrong here) is often a bad idea. But otherwise, no i dont think you did anything wrong. The guy in chat was most likely being dumb(and maybe the other healer should have gotten you up with the LB3 along with the rest instead of a single target res).
