Tbh, if new MMO is to be made soon by same team, it does I guess kind of make sense we're getting less and less content, considering how much time and how much rescources it takes to develop a high budget MMO (usually at least 5 years development).I've noticed this. Even thought they rather do a good job with what they provide, there is something odd. There are two things I can't get ride in my mind :
They plan a great overhaul.
They plan a new generation MMO.
SE is really but really really quiet about its two AAA licences they are working on. I more and more think they have a new MMO in the pipes (to be announced somewhere between the 6.0 and the 7.0 and beta released just after the 7.0... to encourage people to play both XD).
Don't you know? FFXIV is the center of the universe and the only thing that matters but also has to be perfect and up to standards every single day or else it's trash. No redeeming factors except *puts on rose tinted Ironworks goggles* back in Heavensward when absolutely nothing was wrong. If you are not enjoying the game you can take a break. I know its crazy talk but you can especially considering how easy it is to catch up by design. I could respond to everything you have gripes about but it won't resolve anything or change your mind so I won't waste the time.
https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...4d9145ad2f48ebIt feels like that since release. Story and music is great, but everything else is probably made by one person. Job design never been worse, and you get 1 hour of content each patch.
Good thing that people start to notice it. Maybe Square will be forced to give devs $2 instead of usual $1.
I agree with OP however I usually will give until 5.4 to make a complete comparison as we have yet to see what they are working on to make up for the lower amount of dungeons and no deep dungeon.
That's a really bad example considering Classic WoW is bringing back the original WoW and many mechanics associated with it. A significant reason for WoW Classic's success is people haven't liked the direction current WoW has gone in. If doing old content meant we were actually playing Heavensward again, then you'd have a better comparison. Instead, old content still involves us being laughably overpowered. And no, min ilvl doesn't change that. UCoB and UwU are permanently locked at i345 and i375 yet you can absolutely demolish their DPS checks far beyond what was possible in Stormblood.
I also have to disagree there is "heaps of content." There really isn't unless you're purposely stretching things out. People also want new things to tackle, not the same handful of activities they've been doing for the better part of a year. FFXIV's long time criticism is lackluster longevity. Shadowbringers has, sadly, highlighted that more so than previous expansions despite it having a very strong start.

"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."
I'd argue that races and weapons most definitely qualify as content. Race is always a huge draw to me personally. I love fantasias, I love how the various races each bring their own personality and style. I've farmed/picked up various gear specifically for one race now and then. I'm sure plenty of others feel the same. As far as weapons go, running trials/raids for weapons (either glam OR ilvl) is a big draw for a lot of people.First off buddy - race has no value in actual "Content" of a game. So half your list is invalid already. Also, "Weapons" are not that big of a deal either in terms of actual content. If you actually took the time to read reddit posts of interviews and the actual patch notes they release, there is a lot they add aside from the 90% "small" things you listed.
And lastly, ShB ain't over yet until the next expansion. So there are still things to come. So making this list even though ShB is still going on is pointless even though like i said, most of your list is "small" stuff.
If something is dragging people online and inspiring them to be active in game, I'd say that qualifies as content. And if something you enjoy is implemented poorly, that can definitely sour your overall feelings and opinion about matters.

Stop putting him on such a high pedastal, we literally pay for this game and are allowed to critique and state what we dislike and if we are disgruntled, I had to endure people crying about steps of faith being too hard, or their robot being a queen so pretty sure this is fine to talk about without people saying oh well just go away for a few months. No how about we improve the game.Thats a pretty huge jump there pal. That was absolutely not my intention when I wrote the reply. The producer/director himself has said on more than one occasion that he encourages players to take breaks. Imagine this. You take a break for 3 months. VOILA! You come back to more content!
I have never understood these forums, literally so many responses people give are 'well yoshi said this' so what? He is the game director I get that but the whole point of this is if enough people dislike something, as a game director he should respond, if we say absolutely nothing, then the chance of anything changing will always be zero..
Same thing goes for politics or bad work practices.

A budget expansion is Warlords of Draenor.
Shadowbringers is nothing like that.
Just take a break OP.
