So fun story, I was considering resubscribing to Classic WoW earlier this week but I figured I'd see what this patch had to offer. Turns out, done and done within a few hours easy. So, looking like WoW is back on the menu.

Exactly this. XIV has been on the back burner for me for a little while. Black Desert has stepped up to take its place while I wait for more content. Final Fantasy 7 Remake will take all of my attention once it launches. These aren't meant to be full time games all the time. You can take a break and come back later. There's plenty of games to play while you wait for new content. XIV isn't dying. It's not going anywhere. Just enjoy what you enjoy.Thats a pretty huge jump there pal. That was absolutely not my intention when I wrote the reply. The producer/director himself has said on more than one occasion that he encourages players to take breaks. Imagine this. You take a break for 3 months. VOILA! You come back to more content!
Actually, yeah, that's exactly what i wanted. It's a ilvl 485 with room for 5 materia VIII, and we got one for free, while any other just requieres a minimal amount of effort (1000 poetics is a fucking joke). It's officially the lamest first step for a relic weapon ever. Eureka Pagos was way WAY better than this, because It gave us something to do
I mean, if you need something to do there's literally heaps of content to do.Actually, yeah, that's exactly what i wanted. AND if you say "well that's old content, I've done it already" why are people playing wow classic, which is literally only old content?
There is still plenty to do. Still need to do Savages to upgrade gear there. Farm the Ex Trial for the dyeable AF gear. Grind out the needed things for the DoH/L tools - that's 11 tools. Ishgard restoration is nowhere NEAR done. I know Bryn still needs a bit over half a bar on the St Roelle's Dias, and then there are at least 5 more stages on the New Nest.
Farm EX Trial for a couple days to get whatever specific pieces you want. DOH/L tools are dead on arrival because they don't give CP and aren't needed anyway with how easy crafting is. Ishgard is just going to be more scrips, yknow, the system we've had for YEARS. Savage, maybe, but anyone whose serious will have their gear by now. And for those that aren't, whats left, just raid logging. There is still plenty to do. Still need to do Savages to upgrade gear there. Farm the Ex Trial for the dyeable AF gear. ??? Why the hell should i know anything about what WoW players do?
When i see aLalafellcharacter wearing a cute glam
You completely failed to mention the whole DoH/DoL content we got, but sure if something is not of your taste it's not content, right?
To be fair ARR first step of the relic only required you to do a very basic quest, kill Hydra/Chimera and that was it. Then came chaos for the next steps.Actually, yeah, that's exactly what i wanted. It's a ilvl 485 with room for 5 materia VIII, and we got one for free, while any other just requieres a minimal amount of effort (1000 poetics is a fucking joke). HW you could completely bypass the first step if you already had your relic from ARR, or all you were required to do were FATEs and pray RNG was on your side.
Fast forward to SB and Eureka and, again, the actual tasks you had to perform weren't that challenging.
Apart from SB, we never had to do a quest chain or any sort of farm for relic armor on top of relic weapons, which is also worth being mentioned.
First steps of relics have never been "high effort high reward" sort of tasks, quite the opposite.
While I do agree with you that it could have been more time consuming, I think SE is also taking into consideration that back in ARR you had 10 jobs. HW that number went up to 13, then 15 in SB, and now it's up to 17 in Shadowbringers.
A lot of people like to do relics for more than one job, and I'm pretty sure it'll only get more and more difficult and time consuming on each step.
Step 1 being easy, simple or minimum effort is not a reflection of how the entire quest chain will end up being.
