SE did the right thing and I'm not surprised they made the decision they did.
One can hope when all is said and done they move to a sub based system and stop with the enter the house foolishness but that's me.

SE just needs to make more housing and more than likely will need to eventually go with instanced gardens in addition to instanced interiors. Unless they want to run these 100+ zones constantly wasting server resources constantly; the housing system needs to be redesigned from scratch so that housing demolitions aren't required at all.
Its foolishness in the first place that players need to create a thread like this as they shouldn't have to fear having their houses turn down by an automated system and losing all the progress they've made. The other thing that is appalling is that when the houses are demolished their furniture will be demolished as well if they don't return in time.
In the end SE made the right decision here however there will be future issues where any players won't be able to purchase housing (apartments aren't houses they are shoe boxes) as without demolitions there will no longer be freed up housing plots. Again this wouldn't be an issue if the FFXIV housing system didn't have such LIMITED quantity of housing. Assign some resources onto fixing this situation and you won't get a 20+ page thread every time something happens in the world requiring auto demolitions to be stopped again and again.
To be fair, there will still be houses popping up every now and then, it will just be much less likely for however long this lasts, and pretty much impossible on higher pop servers...well, more than usual. But the possibility is still there. In the end SE made the right decision here however there will be future issues where any players won't be able to purchase housing (apartments aren't houses they are shoe boxes) as without demolitions there will no longer be freed up housing plots. While I'm glad that people can breathe easier with the timer halted for the time being. A sub based system isnt going to make housing shortages any better with the housing model SE has made. People wouldnt have to worry bout entering every 45 days, but it also means more unused houses tied up.

This comment should make SE ashamed of what they have created. It should also make any player that defends it step back and see why the system is bad.
Thank you SE for stopping the timer. Now people will be able to fully concentrate on real world problems instead of having to worry about a pixel house.
And all of those that are now angry because they cant get one: To say it in the manner of some here: Well its just pixels, it should not matter if you have it or not so why be angry?
Anyway we need to get rid of this system..give us at least one zone of instanced houses and I at least would relocate there.
Honestly I don't think we should waste our time gloating over those that had a different opinion as SE did the right thing overall. What is shaming going to do anyways, when we need to be more supportive of each other at this time?
I think it may be a good idea to have events or find ways to have players feel a little less stir crazy at this time, or show support for those that are deemed essential so that people can have items delivered, or needs met and many other things that put us in the face of danger. (I do mean us, because I am one of those workers, and seeing the morale in the industry is disheartening, because there's people that are angry we still have jobs...and should be grateful even under the amount of stress and duress).
SE shouldnt stop demolotion, its going to hurt economy and we will have crisis in eorzea...
If you mean my post. Its simply just showing them the exact same argument some used here. "Its just pixels, people should not be emotional about it." So my response to that: Dont be emotional if you did not get one because if something is just pixels than it somehow means that you cant care about it.
I want everyone to have a house. I hate this system. I can fully understand the frustration of not getting a house but I will never ever accept it when people are hoping or wanting others to lose their houses so that they can get one. This is outright selfish especially when its lost thanks to such a event.
If you (I mean general you) use an argument that way then just be ready to have it used on you in return.
In the end it doesn't matter who my post is targeted to specifically. I'm just sad to see people being so aggressive at each other in a time of actual crisis - regardless if I agree with them or not. The tone a lot of people are taking towards each other after I've had time to step back from the thread is disheartening. If you mean my post. I'm just asking people to put in more positive energy and support for other players during this time or should we just something to twist into another angry rebuttal? The housing system debate can be saved for the many other threads that often discuss the topic. As I personally agree that SE has a lot of shortcomings with this system - it wasn't the point of the request ie original post.
SE listened and I thank them for it - I'm just asking as a good gesture as a community if we maybe can come up with ways or fun activities to alleviate the pain and find ways to help. Instead we're trying to argue who is right in the end, and I think it's futile to a point - I want to pay it forward since SE did make a good decision.
