Idea: Premium Wards

If you don't make the "big bucks", then you don't need to add money to pay to your subscription. But, for some of us that amount of money is nothing and it would benefit both players who can pay and SE in terms of increasing their revenue.

I mean ideally, I want them to fix the housing so people aren't using bots to camp placards on the servers, but after all these years I doubt that will ever happen. I see them more likely embracing something akin to this idea because it'll make them more money, and as we all know SE is a business first.

Pay to win isn't part of what this game is about. Sorry but we pay subs already and paying a premium subscription for a house is a bad idea and the chances of it happening are pretty slim in my opinion and it sends a terrible message to the community both inside and outside the game.

Especially when housing is more of a problem for the NA side and even still it's not totally DC wide. It's a flawed system but RMT is not the way to go.

I think it's an excellent idea. I wouldn't mind having the option to pay extra to get my hands on a large house. I'm happy with my medium, though I wouldn't be against getting a bigger house.

How about instead of a per month fee to have a house in general you have a home watcher’s fee for people that want to take a long break from the game but not lose their house. Instead of paying their monthly sub when they don’t plan on playing the game, they can pay a similar scale a month instead to hold their house until they’re ready to return

The same people who complain about this idea are the ones who, without any hesitation, spend money on drugs, alcohol, gambling or any other questionable dependence.

Hello. I strongly oppose the idea of premium wards. I've also never once in my life done drugs, drank alcohol, gambled, or have any sort of other 'questionable dependence', and I've had plenty of opportunities. So what now?

I know you get Big Mad because you're some kind of housing royalty or whatever, but let's refrain from just outright bizarre and nasty claims like that. Trying to discredit people who disagree with the OP's suggestion by calling them drug addicts or whatever is pretty dirty. Have some integrity.

OT, if the ishgard restoration effort has finally built the housing district and its wards or (hopefully) improved apartment complex, will the restoration effort stop and transfer to other war torn locations (e.g. ala mhigo, mor dona, or doma)where housing can be established?

Or will the ishgard restoration effort just continue to in effect add more wards or apartment complex wings?

Of course this is supposing that the ishgard restoration is also aimed at the housing aspect of the game apart from just end game content for crafters and gatherers.

I'd pay a fee for a house, especially if it means I can take a break and not have to worry about losing it as long as I'm paying. As long as it's optional I don't see the issue. I saw a couple of people say it's pay to win. How exactly is that? A house alone is not going to make someone advance through the game faster, collect more gear, or earn more gil than players without one. Which is what pay to win means.

Also, if they're getting revenue directly from housing they may be more inclined to put more resources into it. Which could improve item limits, placement options, etc. Right now they probably feel that resources are best spent on other types of additional content for all players. They're what 10K players on average on a server, and what, about 3500 houses if I'm doing the math right in my head. That's around 2/3 of every server without a house. Obviously, they're not thousands of players per server beating on SEs oor about housing, or else he system would receive more than band aids. If they had additional guaranteed recurring revenue from housing, they would almost certainly put more resources into it.

Acquiring a house and keeping it are the challenges that one has to overcome and win over. Technically one mechanic to keep the house is to remain subbed so that's already paying to win so in the case of premium wards we might call it paying more to win, but this can be averted by the introduction of an improved instanced form of housing, that is always readily available, that even in the unfortunate event of a house demolition, the owner of the demolished property can simply purchase a new property with ease.
